Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie Preview Star Wars: The Clone Wars Movie Preview: This sci-fi CGI film features more major intergalactic power struggles between good and evil. The heroes continue their journey across the galaxy during the Clone Wars, as this flick in the Star Wars series takes place between the already-released Episode 2 and Episode 3 films. This round, in addition to our favorite Jedis, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmey Amidala, there are some new heroes thrown into the mix, including an apprentice to Anakin. And vying for supreme command of the world are the evil villains as led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous. The fate of the Star Wars universe is in question in this newest S-W adventure. The Clone Wars is the first film in the series to be released since the summer 0-5 Episode 3: Revenge of the Sixth. This newest flick is a unique one, in that it's the first series animation and it was not connected to 20th Century Fox like its previous titles. Directed by George Lucas, the CGI film is linked to Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network. The film is reportedly intended to precede an animated series for television on the C-N. Final Fantasy Meets Nine Inch Nails I did not direct this animation (obviously). These are CGI cut scenes from Final Fantasy VIII, set to a soundtrack of Fragile-era Nine Inch Nails. It was part of an experiment I did back in 2001 while studying film scoring techniques. The whole thing runs about 45 minutes; weighing in at 2GB, it's not download or video-share friendly. But this is a six minutes or so clip of my favorite section of the experiment. Throughout the larger piece, there were some really amazing (and accidental) moments of musical serendipity as far as timing goes, kind of like what they say about watching The Wizard of Oz with a Dark Side of the Moon soundtrack. Those "lucky" alignments are strikingly common, even when throwing together random pieces of music and video. What I ended up taking away from the experiment was a reminder to sometimes not be so structured and deliberate in my approach to score, to leave room for these wonderful moments of accidental timing. Incredible Crash dummies film Part 1 Info: This is part 1 of the Incredible Crash Dummies (Tyco) CGI film. Released in 1993, (Originally aired on the Fox Movie network) this was supposedly the pilot for a planned series. It was later released on video, packed with an exclusive 'Ted' dummy action figure, who features in the film. Story: Set in a fictional world called Dummyland, The Incredible Crash Test Dummies are a dedicated team of dummies who set out to maintain safety for all automobile vehicles. Dr Sub (the main head of the Dummies) has created a new prototype armour called the Torso 9000. After a test run of the torso goes horribly wrong, in which test Dummy Ted loses everything.. except his head! The Dreaded 'Dread head' (the ultra bad Junkman) is accidentally attached to the ultra powerful torso...thus allowing him to once again dish out his evil doings against the world..only Slick and Spin (The Dummies poster boys) and a little help from their friends can save the day.... Other notes: It is a great example of an early computer generated film, and looks similar to some of Pixar's early shorts such as Tin Toy (1988) and Knick Knack (1989) as well as the cgi TV series ReBoot (1994).
