NBA Summer League 08: T-Wolves - Knicks 111-91 LAS VEGAS, July 20, 2008 -- The Minnesota Timberwolves never trailed as they defeated the New York Knicks, 111-91, in the first of five games in the final day of competition at the 2008 NBA Summer League Presented by EA SPORTS. Both the Timberwolves -- playing without Kevin Love, who suffered a sore left Achilles yesterday against the Bucks -- and the Knicks finished their Summer League stints with matching 2-3 records. Minnesota dominated throughout, shooting 62 percent from the floor during the first 20 minutes of play and stretching their lead to as many as 16 in the half, on the back of Pops Mensah-Bonsu's 13 first-half points. In the second half, the Timberwolves' defense kicked in, holding the Knicks to only 13 in the third quarter. The Knicks, who had been down as many as 28, rallied in the fourth and come within 12 points, 87-99, with 3:46 to play. But the deficit proved too great -- Minnesota closed the game out with a 20-point win, 111-91. Notes: Knicks guard Nate Robinson was honored with a ceremonial jersey-retirement during halftime of the game in recognition of his contributions to the NBA Summer League during the last three years. NBA 1999 Eastern Conf. Finals: Pacers at Knicks gm 6 part 1 The Knicks and the Pacers are in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals where the Knicks have a 3-2 series lead and the pacers are on the brink of elimination. In the 1st quarter, the Knicks started out shooting 1/13 from the field and were down 13-4, but they went on a 10-4 run to end the 1st period. In the second period, the Knicks came out playing with more intensity and they led for the most part in the 2nd period. Marcus Camby, Latrell Sprewell, and others played hard. Unfortunately for the knicks, with 6:03 left in the 1st half, Larry Johnson got injured and had to be carried off to the court and in the hospital and would not return for the game. The Knicks still played well in the 2nd period after he left with the injury; they led at the half 41-35. In the 3rd quarter, the pacers started on a 11-0 run to give them a 46-41 lead. But the knicks kept fighing their way back into the game. The game was tied at 59-59 going into the 4th period. At one point, Allan Houston was 1/5 from the field in the game, but since that point, he went 11/12 and he had 32 points. It was still a tight game up until the last minute in the 4th. All the other knicks like Camby, Sprewell, Childs, Ward, K. Thomas played very well. The Knicks also got to the foul line in this game a lot more than the Pacers. The Knicks won 90-82 to win Game 6 and win the series 4-2. The Knicks were the 1st 8th seed to make the finals. They had interviews, and a huge celebration after the game and it was just a wonderful feeling. Tags: knicks pacers |

Bulls vs Knicks 1996 - Game 1 - Michael Jordan 44 points Knicks v Bulls 1996 EC Semi-Finals Game 1 44(17-35, 1-4) 5 MJ continued his seemingly never-ending dominance against the defensive-minded New York Knicks. Even with a very sore lower back, Jordan seemed to blow by whoever it was guarding him with ease, whether it was John Starks, Hubert Davis, Derek Harper, or even Anthony Mason on occasion. It was murder how he was backing down Derek Harper in the post. Nobody knew how to play him. If they gave space, he hit the 20 footer. If they played close, he went to the hole. His fadeaway seemed untouchable, whether it was his 2 dribble pull-up off the pivot, coming off a Dennis Rodman or Luc Longley screen, or in the post where he most excels, his jump shot seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. His timely scoring in the second half was just that: timely. And him and Scottie Pippen's defense on the Knick guards was ferocious as usual, forcing their starting backcourt into a 8/27 outing combined. Bulls win, 91-84. -- Information compiled by YouTube user clutchcity25. Tags: Michael Jordan Bulls Knicks 1996 Playoffs NBA |
