Sri Lanka Air Force bombers destroy a major Terrorist Camp Sri Lankan Govt. rejects LTTE(Tamil Tiger) propaganda on Illuppaikadavai air strikes (2007 Jan. 03,) The Sri Lankan government completly rejects the false information spread by the LTTE on the air strikes carried out by the Air Force on a sea tiger base in Illuppaikadavai, north of Mannar in the morning hours yesterday (02) The government believes that the LTTE is attempting to mislead the International community. The sea tiger base at Illuppaikadavai was a well-identified target, which was under constant observation by the Air Force. The government reiterates that the Air Force carried out this attack on a well-identified sea tiger base and not on a civilian settlement. The LTTE's claim that the injured civilians were taken to the Kilinochchi hospital is a total lie as the nearest hospital to Iluppaikadavai is the fully equipped Mannar hospital. If there were seriously injured people the closest hospital, they could have been taken to be the Anuradhapura General Hospital. The distance from Illuppaikadavai to the Anurdhapura hospital is around 112 kilometers. From Illuppaikadavai to Kilinochchi hospital there is a distance of around 140 kilometers. If there was an air strike on a civilian settlement yesterday, it is astonishing as to why the injured were taken to a hospital far away when there were other hospitals in close proximity. Moreover, there cannot be any civilian casualties in Illuppaikadavai as the Army had banned the area for civilian settlements earlier. Based on these facts, it is not difficult for anyone to realize that the LTTE is spreading false information that the Air Force had bombed a civilian settlement in Illuppaikadavai last morning Tags: northern Mannaar wanni Sri Lanka srilanka srilankan lankan Security navy ARMY pongu thamil selvan sea air black tamil tigers tiger ltte prabaharan eelam colombo jaffna tamilsong sinhala SLAF force Anton Balasingham forces UN gothabaya gotabaya mahinda rajapaksha Perl of the Indian Ocean song movie film drama kerala nadu madras delf island eelamstate eelamsong tamiltiger counter terrorist offensive operation propaganda equal implementation official language fisherman journalist human right |

1950's Cold War US Airforce Training Video - Nuclear Weapons The Strategic Air Command (SAC) was the operational establishment of the United States Air Force in charge of America's bomber-based and ballistic missile-based strategic nuclear arsenal from 1946 to 1992. SAC also controlled the infrastructure necessary to support their operations (such as tanker aircraft to fuel the bombers and, until 1959, fighter escorts). On October 19, 1948 Lt. General Curtis Emerson LeMay took over as commander of SAC, and set about a dramatic rebuilding of the command's forces, as well as their mission. LeMay, who had masterminded the American attacks on the Japanese mainland during the war (including the firebombing of Tokyo and other cities), was a staunch believer in the power of strategic bombing: the destruction of an enemy's cities and industrial centers. LeMay believed that the existence of the atomic bomb made this type of warfare the only workable strategy, rendering battlefield conflicts essentially obsolete. Under LeMay's command, SAC became the cornerstone of American national strategic policy during the Cold War with the Soviet Union. This policy was based primarily on nuclear deterrence. In 1962 there were 282,723 personnel assigned (217,650 airmen, 28,531 civilians and 38,542 officers). SAC's motto became "Peace is Our Profession," symbolizing the intention to maintain peace through the threat of overwhelming force. LeMay was not a great believer in mutually assured destruction (MAD): he felt strongly (particularly in SAC's early years, when Soviet nuclear capability was still in its formative stages) that SAC should be prepared to carry out a preemptive and overwhelming attack on the USSR before the Soviets had a chance to do the same to the United States. From its initial handful of wartime B-29 Superfortress bombers (only a few of which were "Silverplate" aircraft capable of dropping a nuclear weapon), SAC transitioned to its first, truly intercontinental bomber, the Convair B-36. Though a major improvement over the under powered B-29, the B-36, with its six piston and four jet engines, was slow to get to its target. The insignia of The Strategic Air Command was designed by Staff Sergeant R. T. Barnes, then assigned to the 92nd Bombardment Wing, in 1951. Submitted in a Command-wide contest, it was chosen as the winner by a three judge panel. The judges were: General Curtis E. LeMay, Commander-In-Chief, Strategic Air Command [CINCSAC]; General Thomas S. Power, Vice Commander-In-Chief, Strategic Air Command; and Brigadier General A. W. Kissner, Chief of Staff, Strategic Air Command. Staff Sergeant Barnes' winning design netted him a $100 United States Savings Bond. 9th Air Force F-16 Demo http://www.aviationlive.org Online Aviation Pics,Videos and Forum The F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American multirole jet fighter aircraft developed by General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin for the United States Air Force. Designed as a lightweight fighter, it evolved into a successful multirole aircraft. The Falcon's versatility is a paramount reason it was a success on the export market, serving 24 countries. The F-16 is the largest Western fighter program with over 4,000 aircraft built since production started in 1976. Though no longer produced for the US Air Force, it is still produced for export. The Fighting Falcon is a dogfighter with innovations including a frameless, bubble canopy for better visibility, side-mounted control stick to ease control while under high g-forces, and reclined seat to reduce the effect of g-forces on the pilot. It was also the first fighter aircraft to be deliberately built to sustain 9-g turns. It has a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than one, providing enough power to climb and accelerate vertically - if necessary. Although the F-16's official name is "Fighting Falcon", it is known to its pilots as the "Viper", after the Battlestar Galactica starfighter. In 1993, General Dynamics sold its aircraft manufacturing business to the Lockheed Corporation, which in turn became part of Lockheed Martin after a 1995 merger with Martin Marietta. During the 1960s, the U.S. Air Force and Navy both concluded that the future of air combat would be determined by increasingly sophisticated missiles. Future "fighters" would be designed primarily for long range, high speed, and equipped with extremely large radar systems in order to detect opposing fighters at long range. This made them much more like interceptors than classic fighter designs. In the early 1960s, both the Air Force and Navy expected to use the F-111 (then still in development as the TFX) and F-4 Phantoms for their long and medium range needs complemented by several single-engine designs including upgraded F-100 Super Sabres, F-104 Starfighters, and F-8 Crusaders. Future twin-engine fighter programs were getting underway and the Air Force began a replacement for its single-engine fighter designs to maintain its high-low mix of air superiority aircraft. Real-world experience in the Vietnam War showed the continued need for the 'high-low' fighter matrix system. Soviet-bloc fighters over Vietnam were proving to be more of a problem than expected for US designs. Even though the US had very large kills to losses ratio in its favor, combat revealed some shortcomings. Missiles of this era still had notable reliability issues, and restrictions on how they were functionally used. Combat invariably closed to short ranges where air-combat maneuverability and short range air-air weapons became critical. Dedicated interceptors like the F-102 Delta Dagger had also been tested in combat which revealed certain shortcomings. Although US training, doctrine and air control more than made up for these disadvantages, it was nevertheless clear to some in the Air Force that the all-missile doctrine was seriously flawed. Both aircraft of the future high-low mix for the USAF would have guns (F-15 and F-16). In particular, Colonel John Boyd developed the theory of energy maintenance in fighter combat, which relied on larger wings in order to preserve maneuverability. Israeli Air Force http://www.aviationlive.org Online Aviation Pics,Videos and Forum While this operation was taking place, only a handful of aircraft were left to guard Israeli skies. The War of Attrition In the War of Attrition, the IAF operated in air "dog fight" and bombing of strategic targets deep within enemy's territory. Notable operations were: * September 11, 1969: IAF planes shot down 12 Egyptian jet fighters in dogfights. * September 26, 1969 - Operation Rooster 53: IAF Super Frelon and Sikorsky CH-53 Yas'ur helicopters carried paratroopers in a raid to "hijack" and airlift back an advanced Soviet P-12 radar deployed in Egypt near Suez. A CH-53 helicopter carried the 4-ton radar back, tethered underneath it. * January 7, 1970: the IAF started performing deep strikes on Egyptian targets, in order to force them to cease artillery and commando attacks on Israeli forces arrayed along the east side of the Suez Canal. * July 30, 1970: the IAF ambushed and shot down 5 Egyptian MiG-21 fighters. Yom Kippur War In the Yom Kippur War of October 1973, the IAF suffered heavy casualties from Soviet anti-aircraft surface-to-air missiles but managed to regroup and assist IDF's ground forces and later bomb infrastructure targets in Syria and Egypt. One of the first battles in the war's air front was the Ofira Air Battle, involving two Israeli Phantoms against 28 Egyptian Mig-17s. IAF helicopters proved to be highly useful in logistics and rescue efforts (MedEvac). According to Israel, during that war, the IAF lost 102 planes while the Egyptian Air Force lost 235 and the Syrian Air Force lost 135, although these figures are contested. The IAF was certainly not able to achieve the aerial supremacy during the Yom Kippur War that it did during the Six-Day War. Growth (1973-82) Following the Yom Kippur War, most of Israel's military aircraft have been obtained from the United States. Those included the F-4 Phantom II, A-4 Skyhawk, F-15 Eagle, E-2 Hawkeye and others. The Israeli Air Force has also operated a number of domestically-produced types like the IAI Nesher, and later, the more advanced IAI Kfir, which were unauthorised derivatives of the French Dassault Mirage 5 Israel bought and paid (and was reimbursed for) for 50 Mirage 5's from Dassault Aviation, but they were not delivered due to the French embargo during the Yom Kippur war]. The Kfir was adapted to utilize a more powerful US engine, produced under license in Israel. In 1976, the IAF participated in the Operation Entebbe rescue mission in Uganda using the C-130 Hercules for transport. During the 1980s and 1990s the IAF was equipped with a variety of additional U.S. aircraft (e.g. F-16, AH-1 Cobra, AH-64 Apache, and C-130 Hercules). Bombing of the Osiraq nuclear reactor On June 7, 1981 8 IAF F-16A fighters covered by 6 F-15A jets flew in Operation Opera, the destruction of the Iraqi Osiraq nuclear reactor. Eight IAF F-16 fighters flew to Iraq and bombed the nuclear facilities of Osiraq. Among the pilots that took part in the attack was the late Colonel Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut. He died on Saturday, February 1, 2003, when the US Space Shuttle Columbia he was riding on was engulfed in flames upon reentry. The attack was code named Operation Opera (sometimes also referred to as Operation Babylon or Operation Ofra) by Israel. The planes returned on almost no fuel. 1982 Lebanon War During the 1982 Lebanon War, IAF planes destroyed the Syrian air defence without a single fighter lost and shot down 100 Syrian aircraft (however Syria claims to have shot down Israeli aircraft during the operation). However, one IAF A-4 Skyhawk, piloted by Captain Aharon Achiaz, was lost to a PLO SA-7 missile, with the pilot being captured. IAF AH-1 Cobra helicopter gunships destroyed dozens of Syrian armored fighting vehicles and other ground targets, including some T-72 main battle tanks. For some years after the war's official end, however, IAF AH-1 Cobras continued to mount attacks on Hezbollah and PLO positions in south Lebanon. On October 1, 1985 Operation Wooden Leg undertook the bombing of PLO Headquarters in Tunis, Tunisia, the longest combat mission ever undertaken by the IAF: 2300 kilometers, involving in flight refueling by an IAF Boeing 707. The attack provoked a strong outcry, even among the United States, Israel's strongest ally. Tags: iaf israel air force f-16 vipe f-5 f-15 arb wars |

Indian Air Force- Su MKI 30 - Heavy Combat Aircraft - Part 1 su MKI is the most feared and discussed fight jet, eventhough it is only a 4.5th generation fighter jet. More upgrades can take su MKI 30 to 5th generation fighter jet capabilities! After proving more than a match for American, French, British and other pilots in wargames over the last few years, IAF fighter pilots will now face the biggest test of them all — the famous American Red Flag aerial combat exercise. "We will be going for Red Flag, the world's ultimate exercise, around August 2008. The Americans have expressed their keen interest in us going there with our latest Sukhoi-30MKI fighters... we probably will not disappoint them," said a senior IAF officer. It was at Gwalior in February 2004 that IAF pilots flying Sukhois and other jets had crossed swords with USAF pilots in their F-15C fighters in the "Cope India" dissimilar air combat training exercise, the first such wargames between the two forces since 1963. And, in what had come as a huge shock to USAF pilots, IAF pilots had more or less outgunned them in the skies, recording most of the "kills" in direct air combat. A few months after that, IAF pilots flew Jaguar strike fighters all the way to Alaska to participate in the multinational Cope-Thunder exercise there. Then, in November 2005, despite objections from Left parties like CPM and CPI, the next Cope India exercise at Kalaikunda in West Bengal saw IAF fighters take on the American F-16s. US Air Force :::::::READ THIS BEFORE POSTING:::::: US Air Force. The best in the world.F-22 Raptor and more aircraft.B-52 etc.But the USA exports many aircraft like Joint strike fighter made by USA of course.USA is #1 arms exporter. The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial-warfare branch of the United States armed forces and one of the seven uniformed services. Previously part of the United States Army, the USAF was formed as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947. The USAF is currently the largest and the most technologically advanced air force in the world, with about 6057 manned aircraft in service (4,273 USAF; 1,313 Air National Guard; and 400 Air Force Reserve)approximately 160 Unmanned Combat Air Vehicles, 2161 Air-Launched Cruise Missiles, and 1900 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and as of September 30, 2005, had 351,800 personnel on active duty, 122,750 in the Selected and Individual Ready Reserves, and 106,800 in the Air National Guard. An additional 14,000 personnel were in the Standby Reserve and the Air Force employed 166,730 civilian personnel. The USAF is currently planning a massive Reduction-in-Force (RIF). Because of budget constraints, the USAF will reduce the service's current size by 40,000 full time equivalent positions by 2011, with approximately half to be eliminated in FY 2007. Approximately 35,000 active duty positions, or one year's cycle of enlistments and retirements, will be eliminated over 5 years. The current size of the active-duty force is roughly 70% of that of the USAF at the end of the first Gulf War in 1991. According to the National Security Act of 1947 (61 Stat. 502) which created the Air Force, "In general the United States Air Force shall include aviation forces both combat and service not otherwise assigned. It shall be organized, trained, and equipped primarily for prompt and sustained offensive and defensive air operations. The Air Force shall be responsible for the preparation of the air forces necessary for the effective prosecution of war except as otherwise assigned and, in accordance with integrated joint mobilization plans, for the expansion of the peacetime components of the Air Force to meet the needs of war." The stated mission of the USAF today is to "deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States of America and its global interests — to fly and fight in Air, Space, and Cyberspace".Not all of the United States' military combat aircraft are operated by the USAF. The United States Army operates its own helicopters, mostly for support of ground combatants. The Navy is responsible for the aircraft operating on its aircraft carriers and Naval air stations, and the Marine Corps operates its own combat and transport aircraft. The Coast Guard also maintains transport and search-and-rescue aircraft, which may be used in a combat and law enforcement role. All branches of the U.S. military operate helicopters. The Air Force is managed by the Department of the Air Force which is headed by the Secretary of the Air Force who heads administrative affairs. The Department of the Air Force is a division of the United States Department of Defense which is headed by the United States Secretary of Defense. The highest ranking military officer in the department is the Chief of Staff of the Air Force. The United States Air Force has been involved in many wars, conflicts, and operations since its conception; these include: * World War I * World War II * The Cold War * The Korean War * The Vietnam War * Operation Eagle Claw * Operation Urgent Fury * The United States invasion of Panama * Operation Eldorado Canyon * The Gulf War * The Kosovo War * Operation Enduring Freedom * Operation Iraqi Freedom The United States Air Force has over 7,500 aircraft commissioned as of 2004. Until 1962, the Army and Air Force maintained one system of aircraft naming, while the U.S. Navy maintained a separate system. In 1962, these were unified into a single system heavily reflecting the Army/Air Force method. People who hate m video, suck it up. you cant comment becuase i disables commenting! hahaa, you're dieing to post shit but i wont let you! hahaa, its driving you off the wall i know! hahaa. There is no such thing as "Palistine". HAHA, SUCK IT UP! (btw, sorry if anyone left good comments and they got removed. i was deleting Islamo-fascist comments and it laged so i clicked again and for some reason it deleted the comments below it. and it happened several times. sorry!) The informartion in this video and in the discription below is from wikipedia. images are from both wikipedia and Google. sorry, the info got blurred. this is what it says: Six Day War June 5, 1967 -- the Six Day War: The destruction of the entire Egyptian air-force within three hours. By the end of the day the Syrian and Jordanian air forces were wiped out as well. The IAF shoot-down total at the end of the war was a claimed record of 451 enemy aircraft downed versus nineteen of its own. War of Attrition March, 1969 until August, 1970 -- the War of Attrition: 111 enemy warplanes were shot-down in dogfights by IAF pilots while only four IAF warplanes were shot down in dogfights by enemy pilots (according to Israeli sources). Also, during the Cold War the Soviet Union held close relationships with the Arab nations. On July 30, 1970 the tension peaked: An IAF ambush resulted in a large scale air brawl between IAF planes and MiGs flown by Soviet pilots — five MiGs were shot down, while the IAF suffered no losses. Yom Kippur War October 9, 1973 -- the Yom Kippur War: The destruction of the Syrian General Staff in Damascus: On October 9, 1973, two F-4 Phantom quartets attacked and destroyed the Syrian General Staff Headquarters in the heart of Damascus. The Syrian Air Force Headquarters was damaged as well. Also, during the Yom Kippur War, the IAF shot down 277 enemy warplanes accounting for over a third of the IAF's total kills since 1948. However in this war over 50 planes where lost due to the introduction of new Soviet air defence equipment and doctrine: medium range SA-6 mobile SAM batteries and point defence provided by short range Shilka radar guided SPAAG and SA-7 Strela MANPADS (employed by Egyptian infantry), advancing with the mechanized forces and covered by older but longer range and still very dangerous SA-2 and SA-3 anti aircraft missile batteries. Israeli Air Force was the first Air Force that fought against the new Soviet doctrine of advancing mechanized forces covered by overlapping different surface based anti airctraft systems. 1982 Lebanon War June 8, 1982 -- 1982 Lebanon War: The destruction of the entire Soviet supplied Syrian air-defence system in Lebanon within a few hours without a single warplane lost; Syria with the help of the Soviet Union built up an overlapping network of surface-to-air missiles. It achieved in dogfights a total of 80 Syrian planes shoot-downs, without a single Israeli plane being shot down. It was felt as a revenge to the air losses in 1973. 2006 Lebanon War IAF AH-64D "Saraf" The IAF played a critical role in the 2006 Lebanon War by leading the Israeli attacks on Lebanon. These strikes -- mainly, though not exclusively, in southern Lebanon -- were officially aimed at crippling Hezbollah's militia which is primarily based there. The IAF flew more than 12,000 combat missions during this war, destroying a good deal of Lebanese infrastructure. Widespread condemnation followed the IAF airstrike on an apartment building on July 30, 2006 near the village of Qana, in which at least 60 civilians were killed. Hezbollah shot down an IAF CH-53 Yas'ur helicopter on the last day of the war. Earlier, an IAF F-16I had crashed during take-off. Israeli aircraft also shot down three Hezbollah aerial drones during the conflict. Other The only documented successful emergency landing of an F-15 with one wing, after losing the starboard wing after an airborne collision with an A-4 Skyhawk during training. The Skyhawk exploded and its pilot ejected. McDonnell-Douglas, manufacturer of the F-15, refused to believe it was possible until photos of the incident were released. The F-15 was subsequently restored to flight status. "Ace" pilots: 39 IAF pilots have shot down at least five jet planes, ten out of them shot down at least eight jet planes. "Ace of Aces": Colonel Giora Epstein shot down seventeen jet planes, holding the world record of jet aircraft shot down, and the most aircraft shot of any type down since the Korean War. Obtaining the first shoot-downs for the American fighter jets, the F-15 and the F-16. [1] The first possible shoot-downs of their own American fighter jets, the F-16s and F-15.[2] 126 enemy planes were shot down in dogfights in the years between the wars — most of them in the 1970s. The IAF lost only two planes in dogfights between the wars, one in 1959 and the other in 1964. TOWERBG - Serbian Air Force! Serbian airmen flying the aircraft MIG-29. High speed, high altitude, long range interceptor. Armament for the MiG-29 includes a single GSh-30-1 30 mm cannon in the port wing root. This originally had a 150-round magazine, which was reduced to 100 rounds in later variants. Original production MiG-29B aircraft cannot fire the cannon when carrying a centerline fuel tank as it blocks the shell ejection port. This issue was corrected in the MiG-29S and later versions. Three pylons are provided under each wing (four in some variants), for a total of six (or eight). The inboard pylons can carry either a 1,150 liter (300 US gallon) fuel tank, one Vympel R-27 (AA-10 'Alamo') medium-range air-to-air missile, or unguided bombs or rockets. The outer pylons usually carry R-73 (AA-11 'Archer') dogfight missiles, although some users still retain the older R-60 (AA-8 'Aphid'). A single 1,500 liter (400 US gallon) tank can be fitted to the centerline, between the engines, for ferry flights, but this position is not used for combat stores. Music by Judas Priest.
