Vodafone Live Music Awards 08 London: 18 September 2008 A long way off-patch today, to Brixtons Carling Academy where the great and the good from the UKs vibrant music scene gathered for the Vodafone Music Awards. No signs of the gloom and doom rampant on newscasts here. Despite the chill in the air there were plenty of fans, happily not so many as is normal at a gig in Leicester Square and good news for me. Many of the young stars were happy to spend time with fans doing the usual; autographs and two-heads photos to make their mates jealous. F1 racing genius Lewis Hamilton showed but couldnt be persuaded to come near the fanline. He talked to the media though which allowed me to get some great shots. US TV's Emmy Awards Highlights TV satire 30 Rock dominated the comedy side of the US TV Emmy Awards, winning four honours including best series. Its stars, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, took home the best acting honours while Fey also won the comedy writing award. Period dramas Mad Men and John Adams won the awards for best drama series and best mini-series. British actress Dame Eileen Atkins took home the award for best supporting actress in a mini-series for her role in the BBC drama Cranford. It took 13 Emmys in total, including eight won a week earlier at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards - the most ever by a mini-series. Drama Mad Men, set in New York's advertising industry in the early 1960s, won the best drama series and best drama writing awards. Five-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close was named best actress in a drama for her portrayal of a ruthless trial lawyer on the legal series Damages. The show also won Zeljko Ivanek a best supporting actor award.
