10/31/02 Brenda 10/31/02 Brenda Meanwhile, Brenda searches for Jason's gun so she can go after Alcazar and kill him herself. Jason catches her trying to break into gun case. He stops her from getting it. She tells him that it doesn't matter if she kills Alcazar since she is dying soon anyway. They are distracted by the door knock. Jason goes to the door to check to make sure it isn't one of Alcazar's men. They are surprised by trick-or-treaters. Earlier, Sonny and Carly came over with Michael in costume to get candy from Jason. They had seen Jason wrestling with Brenda to get the gun case away from her. It looked like a compromising moment to them. Later, Jason gets a frantic call from Courtney who asks him to come over right away. Jason tells Brenda he has to leave and to be careful about opening the door to trick-or-treaters. Brenda is giving candy to the trick-or-treaters and then mistakenly opens the door to find Alcazar who takes his mask off. He grabs for her and tries to barge his way inside. Michigan Smoking BAN Sponsored By Brenda "Clickety" Clack Michigan House committee approves smoking ban bill ASSOCIATED PRESS LANSING, Mich. - A state House committee on Tuesday approved legislation that would ban smoking in the workplace, including bars and restaurants. The House Commerce Committee's 12-4 vote is considered a major step by health groups and other members of a coalition who favor the smoking ban. But the proposal still has a long way to go before it could become state law. The bill now goes to the House floor for the chamber's consideration. The bill also would have to pass the Senate and get Gov. Jennifer Granholm's signature to become law. The legislation is opposed by the Michigan Restaurant Association and some bar and restaurant owners who say business owners ought to be able to decide for themselves whether to allow smoking. Those groups say customer demand is adequately driving decisions about where smoking is allowed. The state has nearly twice as many smoke free restaurants and taverns than it did a decade ago, according to the restaurant association. More than half the states have enacted some sort of ban on smoking in public or workplace areas, according to supporters of the Michigan campaign. Some of those bans don't apply to restaurants and bars. The proposal headed to the Michigan House floor would cover most businesses, but would exempt cigar bars and smoke shops. "We are moving Michigan forward on health issues," said Rep. Brenda Clack, a Democrat from Flint and a main sponsor of the legislation. An amendment that would have exempted casinos, private clubs and places with liquor licenses failed. Some Republicans argued that the state shouldn't meddle in setting rules for private clubs. Alcazar pushes his way in and reminds Brenda that she wanted to spare her loved ones the pain of watching her die from her mother's disease. However, when Sonny's guard arrives, Brenda tells him that she is fine and does not expose that Alcazar is there with her. As Alcazar tells Brenda that he will still take care of her, with no strings attached, Sonny barges in with two of his men and orders them: "Take him out! Kill him!' 11-26-02 Brenda 11-26-02 Brenda Jax and Brenda wake up and kiss. Brenda rambles on about feeling safe with Jax and giggles some more. Jax claims that Brenda is his life and that he forced himself to feel happy without her. He announces that he is going to take her to Fiji tonight, but Brenda doesn't want to go. She questions that he wants to run away and asks him if he knows that Alcazar is dead. Jax confronts Brenda with her bracelet that he found at the murder scene. Brenda makes excuses about warning Alcazar that he would die. Jax wants to know if she hurt him - she lies and says "no" although she told Sonny "yes" yesterday. Jax makes arrangements for them to run away. Brenda questions why Jax was at Alcazar's room, and Jax questions Brenda's involvement in Alcazar's death. Nobody trusts anyone else here in this newly former adulterous relationship. Brenda says running away will make them look guilty, but Jax wants to run away citing that Brenda did live with Alcazar for four years, but she agrees to go anyway. 11/22/02 Brenda At the Quartermaine Mansion, Brenda apologizes to Ned because of the way that Alcazar ruined the party, but Ned assures Brenda and Jax that Luis Alcazar will eventually pay for his crimes. Jax and Brenda return to the Cottage and hit the sheets. Brenda leaves Jax sleeping in bed and slips out of the Cottage - alone. Jax awakens at the Cottage and realizes that Brenda is missing. As Jason prepares to leave the Port Charles Hotel, he glances up and notices that, on one of the monitors, Jason can see Brenda headed toward Alcazar's suite. Jason starts up the stairway to intercept Brenda. Meanwhile, the Venezuelan Stranger passes in the street below Alcazar's Penthouse Suite and steps on the broken glass from Skye's liquor glass, now covered by snow. While Jason races up the stairs to try to prevent Brenda from entering Alcazar's Penthouse, Jax enters the building through the Lobby when a celebrating couple leaves for a party. Brenda's loud knocking on Alcazar's door wakes Alcazar - but not Skye. When Alcazar lets Brenda in, Alcazar tells Brenda that he will NEVER let her be happy with anyone else and Luis promises that either Alcazar will kill Jax - OR Jax will go to prison for killing Alcazar - but, either way, BRENDA will lose! When Alcazar tries to kiss Brenda, she struggles with him and loses her bracelet in the struggle. Then she runs out the door. But, as Brenda bumps into a dinner cart in the hallway, she discovers a steak knife, and picks it up, staring at it. Skye is wakened by the sound of Luis and Brenda arguing in the next room, and woozily tries to get out of bed and struggles toward the door. In the meantime, Jason and Jax both rush up different flights of stairs in an effort to intercept Brenda BEFORE Brenda gets to Luis. Alcazar goes out on the balcony, then turns when he hears someone behind him. Alcazar recognizes the person who is moving toward the balcony and asks in an irritated tone of voice: "Now what?" In the next moment, Alcazar free-falls fourteen floors, hurtling onto the hood of a car below. 1-30-03 Brenda Part One 1-30-03 Brenda Part One Jax surprises Brenda with a diamond engagement ring on the breakfast table. He asks her to marry him and tells her he loves her and always has. Brenda tearfully accepts his proposal. Taggert shows up to question Jax about whether Skye ever said anything incriminating about herself concerning Alcazar's murder. Jax tells him that she said nothing to him and that he doesn't believe she is cold-blooded enough to kill Alcazar and then frame Brenda and Jason. Taggert doesn't quite believe he is telling him the whole truth but leaves. Jax tells Brenda that it is possible that Skye may have killed Alcazar but only if he had her back against the wall and that Skye is her own worst enemy sometimes. Brenda tells him that if he feels he needs to help Skye than he should do it. Jason shows up at Brenda's so they can go to the Dominican Republic and get a quick divorce. Brenda asks Jason what his big hurry is. Brenda guesses that his rush to get a divorce right away has something to do with Courtney. 12-23-02 Brenda 12-23-02 Brenda At the darkened Quartermaine Mansion, Mac quizzes Alexis, Skye, A.J., Alan, Edward, Ned, Monica, Reginald and Lila about the whereabouts of Brenda and Jason. Mac is surprised to notice that Coleman is attending a Quartermaine gathering and even more surprised when Coleman announces that he was an invited guest. While Skye suggests that Jax and Brenda are half-way to Canada by now, the rest of the Quartermaines deny knowing anything at all about Jax or Brenda. Brenda and Jax run through the grounds, but Jason suddenly appears and hits Jax on the head, grabs Brenda and takes off with her. Jason drags a protesting Brenda to her Cottage and demands that she pack and get ready to leave immediately. But, when Jason enters the darkened Cottage, Jax steps out of the shadows and hits Jason over the head. Even though Brenda insists they should make sure Jason is OK and maybe even take him to the Hospital, Jax refuses and insists that they tie Jason up and leave him there. Brenda and Jax arrive aboard Jax's jet and make plans to fly to the Caribbean. 9-10-02 Brenda Part Two 9-10-02 Brenda Part Two Brenda tells Alcazar that she feels so much better that he needs to let her out of the locked room. She tells him he is her whole life and the only person she wants to be with, and asks him to get them out of Port Charles. Diana, the nurse, arrives to give Brenda more medication. Brenda requests no more drugs, but Alcazar insists they are upon doctor's orders. The nurse administers tries to administer the medication, but Brenda talks her out of it. Diana injects the pillow instead. When the door is opened for Diana to leave, Brenda notices a Maritime Emergency Kit. Brenda feigns tripping, and a guard enters the room. She asks him for help in getting off the floor pretending she has a sprained ankle. She asks the guard to get the first aid kit outside. The guard dismounts it off the wall, lays it on the bed, and puts a flare gun to the side. Brenda pays the guard a few idle compliments to gain his trust so he'll let down his guard. Brenda starts flirting with the guard, hugging and caressing him while simultaneously grabbing the flare gun and putting in under her bottom. Alcazar walks into the room. She tells Alcazar she's hurt her ankle and she hopes he's there to let her out, but he locks her in anyway. 12-04-02 Brenda 12-04-02 Brenda At the Port Charles Police Department, Sonny assures Brenda that he WILL get her off the hook, but she needs to stay strong. Brenda admits to Sonny that she TRIED to set Scott straight about what really happened the night that Luis Alcazar died, and that Scott taped Brenda's statement and is probably planning to twist the information to convict Brenda, Jason and Sonny. Sonny again reassures Brenda NOT to worry. BUT, Scott makes sure that Carly sees Brenda and Sonny with their heads together and urges Carly to get Brenda OUT of Carly's marriage by confiding to Scott whatever dirt Carly knows about Brenda. Pretending to be about to divulge a hot, inside tip, Carly whispers that Sonny and Jason KNOW for a FACT that Brenda did NOT kill Alcazar. Scott suggests that, IF Sonny and Jason are THAT positive that Brenda did NOT kill Alcazar, perhaps it is because Sonny and Jason already know who DID kill Alcazar. Carly whispers that Sonny and Jason believe that SCOTT killed Alcazar because Alcazar humiliated Scott in court! As Skye leaves the PCPD, she runs in to Brenda, in prison denim and headed to lock-up. 11-11-02 Brenda 11-11-02 Brenda In the Caribbean, as Alcazar communicates with some of his men to pick him and Brenda up and get rid of Sonny, Sonny slugs Alcazar from behind. After Sonny slugs Alcazar and ties him up, Sonny uses Alcazar's phone to try to call for help, but the battery goes dead before Sonny can complete his message. In the Caribbean jungle, Sonny tries to get Brenda to leave Sonny alone with Alcazar and Alcazar informs Brenda that that is because Sonny plans to execute Alcazar in the crazy hope that Alcazar's men will NOT carry out Alcazar's orders once they learn that their boss is dead. As Alcazar reminds Brenda of his love for her, Brenda surprises Sonny when she suddenly grabs the gun. Brenda threatens to kill Alcazar herself, but can't bring herself to pull the trigger. When Alcazar sees Brenda wavering, Alcazar urges Brenda to toss the gun into the jungle, implying that she is NOT acting like herself and that it is probably just her disease that is talking. Brenda fires into the air, then runs away, still clutching the gun. Sonny runs after her. Sonny catches up to Brenda and convinces her that she is NOT going crazy and that Alcazar is just preying on her fears. Still holding the gun, Brenda admits that she HAS hurt everyone she ever loved. Brenda suddenly points the gun at herself and suggests that she could end it all right there. Sonny distracts Brenda with a kiss and takes the gun away from her as Brenda relaxes in his arms.
