The collision happened on Woods Chapel Road near Kingsridge Drive in Blue Springs. Police said a 20-year-old driver of an SUV was seen passing cars in the funeral procession and then hit the funeral escort, who was trying to control traffic. "Apparently the driver that was involved was leapfrogging -- witnesses say leapfrogging other cars in the procession," Detective Jeremy Dickstein said. Steven Keith, 51, has life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His employer said Keith is in the intensive care unit in critical condition. Witnesses told KMBC's Chris Nagus that the SUV driver appeared to be upset. "He was pretty well shaken up. It bothered him, you could tell," witness Ted Giefer said. "He actually used my phone to call his wife -- he was rather (shaken)," witness Evelyn Loughran said. Police said they believe the SUV driver had been drinking alcohol. He was taken into custody. A Dangerous Business Keith works for Professional Escorts, a company that is hired by funeral homes to try to keep processions safe. The manager told KMBC that the business is becoming increasingly dangerous, especially in urban areas where drivers are more impatient. China's Worst-Hit Village after Earthquake ANCHOR: Chinese citizens hit hard from the Sichuan earthquake that struck in May are suffering once again. The area of Chaping village in Anxian county has recently been hit by a landslide following heavy rain, killing 6 people and injuring 10, according to locals. Residents are worried what this new disaster will mean for them. They have not been able to afford to rebuild their lives since the earthquake on May 12th. STORY: Mr. Huang, a Chaping village resident who chose not to give his first name, told our reporter that his village has been without water and power since the May 12th earthquake. The recent landslide has only made their situation worse. [Mr. Huang, Local Resident] (quote1, male): "Maybe there are six people dead and there are around 10 people injured. The main reason is the serious landslide. It was raining hard for several days so all the houses collapsed. Power and water have been stopped. Roads have been not repaired and communication lines are blocked." Mr. Li, who is currently living in a temporary home made of scavenged materials, said that some local people were living in the forest. Many villagers have not been able to afford to build new houses. [Mr. Li, Local Resident] (quote3, male): "The local people living in the mountains have very limited savings. They had used almost all of their savings to build their home, but the earthquake destroyed everything. The subsidy from the government is very limited so we have to rely on what we have... Some of the local residents had left the village to make a living." Chaping village was almost completely destroyed when the earthquake hit in May. Tourists who escaped the area reported that about two thousand residents died and four to five thousand were injured in both Chaping and neighboring Gaochuan village. Market Report - Asia Shares Hit By Oil, Dollar CHAN: Most major benchmark indexes fell on concerns about oil prices and the U.S. dollar. ZHANG: Asian shares declined Wednesday, hit by soaring energy prices and a weaker U.S. dollar. The Nikkei dropped 1.7 percent. Robots hit the wrestling ring for a cyborg-battle ANCHOR: And humanoid robots hit the wrestling ring for a cyborg-battle in a fighting robot competition. STORY: One by one the competitors walk into the Korakuen stadium hall in Tokyo, their entrance announced by an MC to thunderous applause. But these contenders are all diminutive humanoid robots built and controlled by amateurs in the twice a year Robo-One Championships. [Terukazu Nishimura, Robo-one Committee Chairman]: "Japanese children have all been brought up watching animations and there is a lot of interest in robot battles. So this Robo-one competition is all about making this a reality." Kicking off the final matches in the feather-weight division, 'Automo03-Sandan' a metallic bipedal robot wearing karate gear, is no match for 'Leghorn' a robot in the shape of a chicken and famed for its vicious 'Chicken chop' martial art moves. In a wing-beat 'Leghorn' pushes its opponent down for the third time and progresses to the next round. 112 humanoid robots entered the two day competitions. By the final day, 45 remained standing and divided between the heavy-weights over 6.6 pounds and feather-weights under 6.6 pounds. In the light-weight division South Korean robot Teakwon-V smashed his opponents with a quick jab to the delight of its maker Jeon Young Sun, who took home the $10,000 U.S. division prize. [Jeon Young Sun, Fighting Robot Owner]: "It is a good chance to see Japan's advanced robot technology. Some people say that South Korea's technology is unsatisfactory, but I would like to show, maybe not that often, that South Korea's robot technology is doing really well by continuing to participate in robot competitions and walk shoulder to shoulder with Japanese teams until we develop our technology and do even better." The competition also helps hone the nation's robotic skills - often at a higher standard than in the corporate world, some say. [Naoki Maru, Fighting Robot Owner]: "You see a lot of technological breakthroughs in these kind of fighting robots. This competition, for example, happens twice a year but every time we gather you witness here some incredible technological revolution in robotics. It's just great that in this field the hobbyists develop and improve their robots faster than in the corporate world." 'King Kaiser' the heavyweight fighting robot with Maru's son's Kenta age 12 and Ryouma age 9 controlling it, went on to beat Jeon's 'Teakwon-V' robot in the All Class division that pitt lightweights and heavyweights against each other.
