Whose Cops? County Mayo, Ireland. Despite the best efforts of a large force of police officers from the Garda Siochána, a truck carrying construction materials is seen here being prevented from entering the site where Shell are trying to build a huge polluting gas refinery on the west coast of Ireland against the wishes of the people. The scheme involves a high pressure pipeline snaking across a marshy landscape, in an area prone to landslides and forest fires. Shell are trying to construct the pipeline/refinery before they have planning permission or a licence to operate them, and recent polls show the majority of people in Ireland believe that they should refine the gas offshore, they way it is done all around the world. Nevertheless the Irish government, plagued by allegations of corruption, continues to support Shell. Their partners in the project include US company Marathon Oil, and the Norwegian State Company STATOIL. Ironically, a scheme like this would not be allowed in Norway. The Irish government, who won't gain a penny for the country from the deal they negotiated with Shell, continue to send in police from Rosscommon, Galway, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal and other parts of Ireland as well as Mayo, to try to help Shell get the refinery built. Ministers from the Green Party have betrayed their voters by supporting Shell, even though they said they were against the project before the recent elections. NOTE: Shell claimed the truck in this video was not trying to get to the construction site but was simply passing by. However, after years of lies, no one in Ireland believes the nonsense they come up with anymore. Top 20 GAA Moments - Moment 9 What a year...1982! Kerry had won the four previous All Ireland titles with a team of players that were simply magic once they found their rhythm. In 1979 I sat on the long wall that skirts the football field in Miltown Malbay and saw the Kingdom score 9-21 against my own county. It became known as the Miltown Massacre !! This was a team of legends from Charlie Nelligan in goal to John Egan, Bomber Liston and Mikey Sheehy at the other end. They had arrived on the scene in 1975 - a crowd of young bachelors that swept all before them including the Dubs in the All Ireland Final. So was this it? Seven years later...their crowning glory? A record 5 in a row never achieved before!! It's strange to even reflect about it now. Those same mixed emotions return. You wanted the Kerry lads to do it and yet if they won the All Ireland again...surely it wasn't good for football to have one team dominate so much? And so to All Ireland Final Day 1982. Still those mixed emotions rummaging around in my head. Kerry leading with seconds left on the clock. Ah yeah...fair play... Kerry were about to win 5 in a row and sure...who could begrudge them? And yet ...one found oneself shouting for Offaly to have one last lash !! Offaly take a quick free under the old Cusack Stand. It's kicked in high...a tussle for possession...the elegant Tommy Doyle (whose relations are from my home village of Quilty) and substitute Seamus Darby ( who coached me at under age level when he came to my home village on holidays and also had cousins nearby ! ). Did Seamus push Tommy?? Years later, I asked PJ McGrath ,the match referee that day from Mayo and later Chairman of the Connacht Council who categorically declared that there was no push! Darby turned and kicked a rocket past Charlie in the goal at the Hill16 end. All over the world people reacted...some cried tears of sorrow (mainly Kerry men and women) more cried tears of joy (take your pick from Offaly to Alaska) and some just didn't believe what they had just seen. The 5 in a row dream was over...a moment that changed the course of GAA history. Tags: kerry offaly 1982 gaa rte top 20 moments football gaelic |

Michael Tsarion Pt.1 Alternative historian and author, Michael Tsarion is an expert on the occult history of Ireland and America. Born in Ireland, he has researched mythologies of the world, as well as his own country's magnificent and mysterious Druidic history. Michael's work considers the consequences to civilization of extra-terrestrial involvement and answers many of the quandaries that have puzzled other "visitation" experts. It clarifies the disinformation about Atlantis and the lost continents of pre-history and it shows that the orchestrated chaos of today's world has roots in ancient times. Looking ahead, Michael offers profound solutions for the future. Michael returned for a discussion about Irish origins, subversive symbols, his Timegnosis project, and the meaning of 2012. Most people aren't aware of the antiquity of Ireland and its importance in the origins of civilization, he noted. In fact, the roots of Egyptian thought and Christianity actually extend back to the Druids, he contended. The sun will cross the galactic center on Dec. 21, 2012 according to the Maya, said Tsarion, who added that this time marks the end of the age of Pisces, as well as the end of one entire Zodiac cycle itself. It will bring a cleansing period where the kind of life we're used to will pass away, he believes, with dramatic changes to relationships and domestic structures. Tsarion described his Timegnosis system, in which he combines numerology with astrology to yield personal "timescopes" that offer daily predictions designed for empowerment. He also shared his theories about the "subversive use" of symbolism in advertising and the media, arguing that a kind of "Psychic Dictatorship" seeks to erode the moral fabric of human beings through symbolic imagery. "I heard the old men say" Garrison (An Garastún in Irish) is a small village in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, at the eastern end of Lough Melvin. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 357 people. It was a thriving town before "The Troubles" when it was cut off from the Republic of Ireland after the roads were blown up by the British Security Forces in an attempt to stop the transportation of explosives into Northern Ireland. When cross-border business halted, the town suffered from lack of trade and went into decay. A further IRA campaign displaced a sector of the population and bombed many of the remaining buildings. The British government decided to provide funds to rebuild in the early ninties. It is only since the roads reopened in 1994 that Garrison has found its feet again. This video recalls a visit to the village by Patrick Treacy in the summer of 1993. Tags: Patrick Treacy Garrison IRA British Army |

Enya - Caribbean Blue Remix (1991) Enya (born Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin on 17 May 1961, Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Ireland), sometimes presented in the media as Enya Brennan, is an Irish singer and songwriter. She is Ireland's best-selling solo artist and is officially the country's second biggest musical export (second only to U2). Her works have earned her four Grammy Awards and an Academy Award nomination and is also famous for performing in 10 different languages during her lengthy career. Enya is an approximate transcription of how Eithne is pronounced in her native Irish, in the Donegal dialect. Enya was born in Gweedore / Gaoth Dobhair, County Donegal, Ireland in 1961 to a musical family, the sixth of nine children. Her grandparents were in a band that played throughout Ireland, her father was the leader of the Slieve Foy Band before opening a pub, and her mother played in a dance band and later taught music at the Gweedore Comprehensive School. Enya has four brothers and four sisters, several of whom formed the band An Clann As Dobhar in 1968. They renamed the band Clannad in the 1970s. In 1980, Enya worked with Clannad, the band composed of her siblings Máire (Moya), Pól, and Ciarán and twin uncles Noel and Padraig Duggan. Enya played the keyboard and provided backing vocals on their album Crann Úll (1980), although she was not officially a member of the group until the 1981 release Fuaim, when she appeared on the cover. In 1982, shortly before Clannad became famous for "Theme From Harry's Game," producer and manager Nicky Ryan left the group and Enya joined him to start her own solo career. Enya then formed her own recording studio, named "Aigle", which is French for "Eagle". Enya recorded two solo instrumental songs called "An Ghaoth Ón Ghrian" ("The Solar Wind") and "Miss Clare Remembers" that were released on the 1983 album Touch Travel. She was first credited as Enya (as opposed to Eithne) for writing some of the music for the 1984 movie The Frog Prince, which was released on a soundtrack album of the same title. Another early appearance on record followed in 1987, where Enya provided spoken (not sung) vocals on Sinéad O'Connor's debut album, The Lion and the Cobra. The title of the album is a partial English translation of Enya's Gaelic reading of Psalms 91:11-13 on the song "Never Get Old". Enya was contracted to provide music for the soundtrack of the 1986 BBC television documentary The Celts. The music she produced was featured on her first solo album, Enya (1987), but it attracted little attention at the time. The B-Side single "Eclipse" is actually a reversed and modified version of Enya's song "Deireadh An Tuath", from this 1987 album Enya. The song "Boadicea", also from this album, would later be sampled by The Fugees on their single "Ready or Not" (1996), causing a brief stir because the group neither sought permission from Enya nor gave her credit initially, and by Mario Winans, who did give her credit (the Winans track, "I Don't Wanna Know" which features a rap by P. Diddy and is officially credited to all three artists, became Enya's highest charting single in the US, when it peaked at #2 on the Hot 100 in 2004). Enya achieved a breakthrough in her career in 1988 with the album Watermark, which featured the hit song "Orinoco Flow" (sometimes known as "Sail Away"). "Orinoco Flow", featuring Jay Tyree, reported to be named after Orinoco Studios (now Miloco Studios), where it was conceived, topped the charts in the United Kingdom, and the album sold eight million copies. Three years later, she followed with another hit album, Shepherd Moons, which sold ten million copies and earned Enya her first Grammy Award. The songs "On Your Shore" and "Exile" (from Watermark) and "Epona" (from Enya) were featured in the 1991 film L.A. Story. "Ebudae" was also featured on the soundtrack to the Robin Williams film Toys, while the 1990 film Green Card had "River", "Watermark", and "Storms In Africa". "Book Of Days" was featured prominently in the movie Far and Away, with an English-lyric version created for the film then replacing the old Gaelic-language version on all pressings of the Shepherd Moons album from 1993 onwards. In 1992, a re-mastered version of the Enya album was released as The Celts including a longer, modified version of "Portrait", which was re-named as "Portrait (Out of the Blue)". Four years after Shepherd Moons, she released the Grammy-winning The Memory of Trees (1995). Singles released from the album were "Anywhere Is" and "On My Way Home".
