Time-lapse Sphinx moth egg hatches under microscope A tiny 1/32" long egg of the Pacific Green Sphinx Moth [Arctonotus lucidus] hatches under the microscope. The larva can be clearly seen though the transparent eggshell as it chews its way out. The magnification is 100x and the event is presented in 72x time-lapse. Sphinx Moth Caterpillars Shed in Time-Lapse These two Pacific Green Sphinx [Arctonotus lucidus] caterpillars shed their 4th instar skins to become 5th instars. The process takes only a few minutes (10-15). As the last one sheds, the time lapse speeds-up to show how the larvae change color (darken) over the following 30 minutes. the soundtrack is "Oberion Extension" by TECHNICIAN.
