What Wikipedia says: Optic included many optic fibres of mainly viridian and red colour, swaying from side to side, initially with great momentum but slowly and eventually settling into the shape of the '2' symbol. The slow-tempo audio was atmospheric, carried by warm melodic sounds and a deep bass note, with a high choir pad towards the end. Along with Powder, this was one of the first new idents to be added to the roster, allegedly replacing Glass and Paper Cut Out. When searching through an old tape for unrelated footage, Goatherder found a BBC2 'mockumentary' about how far it was acceptable to push the limits in comedy. It wasn't very funny, but it did feature a short piece of Bill's act with the shows hosts in the audience and, more importantly, an interview with the man himself. This was part of a strand of programs about comedy that BBC2 put out in 1992 called 'Funny Business'. This particular episode was called 'A Question Of Taste'. Go find a forum for the political debate! :P Back to the point: To break the sad news of the death of the Queen Mother in Easter 2002 (not 2003 as the clip mentions), the BBC interrupted all of their channels to simulcast with BBC1 both here and abroad, hence the rather vague 'BBC Television News' announcement. For BBC2, this meant leaving the scheduled programme Steptoe and Son, but unfortunately someone told them to cut out a little too early, leaving several minutes of the announcer informing us over a slide 'we *will* be interrupting this programme for an announcement shortly', before Peter Sissons finally appeared (in his later to become infamous 'no black tie' guise).
