If you look real close, you can see a few industry superstars sitting in the audience (when I turn the camera away from the stage to point it at Ponzi for a moment). In essence, the environmental strategy of General Motors Europe is to reduce CO2 emissions in the short term and introduce new propulsion technologies in the long term. The goal is to offer customers vehicles that can operate on many different energy sources. "The multi-tiered approach includes accelerating the development of electrically powered vehicles, stepping up efforts to replace fossil fuels and increasing the efficiency of gasoline and diesel engines," explains Carl-Peter Forster, GME President. GM Europe will invest 700 million euros in new engines and transmissions in the next five years alone, with the first models already at the IAA. Carl-Peter Forster continues: "Opel's surprise for this year's IAA also symbolizes the versatility of our extensive environmental initiative. A concept car which combines electric propulsion and a turbo diesel engine in a way that is fundamentally different to previous hybrid propulsion designs." Michael Jordan 1997 Finals: Gm 5 Vs. Jazz, "FLU GAME", 38pts This is the Legendary Flu Game where MJ rises from his death-bed. It is my opinion that this game can be considered MJ's greatest game ever. The book "MJ's 50 Greatest Games" ranks this at #2. This is the game that signified the core and purity of Michael Jordan. Take away all the circus shots, amazing dunks, hang-time jumpers, acrobatic drives, huge scoring nights etc, and you had what Michael Jordan represented - the unparalleled desire and will to succeed in the most crucial moments and in the most dramatic fashion. The only question left after this game was whether MJ would be the greatest there ever will be. MJ's sickness left him devoid of energy, food and sleep. During the game, someone mistakenly gave him Gatorlode instead of Gatorade which made things even worse since Gatorlode is a post-activity drink. But the Bulls needed this game since the series was tied 2-2 and losing this game meant they would have to go to 7 games to win the title. This was unacceptable to MJ. Also, that year's "MVP-trohy borrower" Karl Malone had to be defeated. Going 13-27 (modest by MJ's standards) and at times, about to pass out, MJ stuck through and came up with the clutch FT, clutch rebound and of course, the famous clutch trey-winner. Is it possible to have more drama? MJ stated that he still has trouble remembering the whole game because of his condition. He said, "I almost died playing that game." The greatest, as always, MJ. Michael Jordan 1986 Playoffs: 63pts, Gm 2 Vs. Celtics MJ's 1st 50+pt game is this Legendary Game. It's still the playoff record and is ranked 3rd in the book "Michael Jordan's Top 50 Games". NBA Sophomore MJ was just 23 years old but he would show the world in just his 6th playoff game that there would never be another player like him again. This Celtics team was considered perhaps the greatest team ever. Having won 67 games, 40-1 at home, 31 straight at home and on a 14 win streak, MJ single-handedly almost dismantled them. After scoring 49 points in Game 1 (which I also have up on youtube), McHale said, "That will never happen again." The Celtics went back and brainstormed to stop MJ and came back to hold MJ to 63. At times, putting 4-5 bodies on Jordan, Jordan was well, still Jordan. MJ missed 64 games in the regular season with a broken foot and returned just 6 weeks earlier but in this game, the legend of Michael Jordan was born. Scoring on vicious attacks, athletic jumpers from everywhere and finesse and power moves all at once, MJ displayed an intensity to win and take the entire Boston Team all by himself. It was chilling to watch. Scaring the guts out of the Champion Celtics in their unbeatable home court, MJ played a game that still stands as the greatest post-season record of all-time with 63 points. The only quote you need to remember is Bird saying, "That was God disguised as Michael Jordan. He's the most awesome player I've ever seen...he was getting his points in the flow of the game...scary." Celtics coach KC Jones added, "I was watching and all I could see was this giant Jordan and everyone else was just in the background."
