Lyle's Waterbirth Our second son's welcome into this world. This is the mommy in this birth video. I'm giving background info for viewers understanding. My husband posted this but I'm glad to share this wonderful exp. This was our 2nd birth (1st was Taylor now 5 born at home in tub too after 12 hours of labor). If mom and baby are healthy and you have all the necessary pre-natal care and are fully educated on labor/birth and what to expect and really want a homebirth exp. (no fear) than this is the way to go man! It was the most empowering exp. of my life. The reason midwife is not here is my husband told her it would be 1 hr. when she called to check on us at 4am. what does he know---he's just a man and I couldn't really verbalize that is would be sooner. The call you see in the video (where my husband has the head in his hands)at 5am is midwife again, @ 30 min. away still. Well, she's gonna be late,huh? My sister, best friend & my mom who is tending to our 22 month (Taylor—now 5) were there. He was crying because its 4:45am, he just woke up & wanted Mommy like all kids do at 5am-he also wanted to get in the pool. He was not traumatized by seeing me give birth. Unchained in the Toyroom of the Most High this is a poem for an adopted mentor. a very conceptual individual, mr. k. curtis lyle. i had the phenomenal fortune of meeting him and will alexander, ojenke mapenzi and kamau daooud all around the same period there in los angeles. it was a collective experience that would shape the development of my concepts and precepts and set the stage for this present attempt at the dharma of muse. i once had the great fortune of doing a couple of duet performances with mr. lyle in los angeles and oakland, california...one of my greatest honors. such a special mind. very much in the tradition of west coast writters like bob kaufman, stanley crouch, quincy troupe...those individuals shape an approach....an aerodynamic...to perception and consciousness...i am fortunate to have experienced them in my life time along with the likes of john outterbridge, david hammonds, charles dixion...really dynamic thinkers and conceptualist that convey a language unspoken yet mpactive... by the way...if anybody can tell me where these boxes at the end of each stanza are comming from i'd appreciate it...some sort of alien presence that just appeared...not my intention and try as i might it only gets worst if i explore it...any suggestions? Sono Pat Metheny e Lyle Mays. Tralasciando Pat, poiché inserisco un brano di Lyle, vorrei tratteggiare, a grandi linee, il percorso musicale del grande tastierista. Assoldato da Pat Metheny ai tempi di "Watercolors", Lyle Mays, nato nel 1953 nel Wisconsin, ma educato a Boston, fu per anni la seconda voce del leggendario gruppo. In un certo senso Mays costruiva l'edificio dentro cui viveva la chitarra di Metheny. Il suo stile riccamente colorato, imprevedibilmente dinamico, lo portò presto a prendere il sopravvento in fase di composizione. Quando uscì il monumentale disco "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls", è lui, non Metheny, l'autore, ed è il sintetizzatore, non la chitarra, lo strumento più importante. Sui dischi successivi Mays diede sfoggio del suo eclettismo, passando con disinvoltura dal pianoforte acustico al sintetizzatore digitale. Il suo primo album da solista, "Lyle Mays" , uscito nel 1986, fu una delle migliori uscite discografiche di quell'anno in ambito jazz-fusion, nel quale la composizione "Highland Aire", ispirata ad un credibilissimo tema popolare scozzese, contiene un fantastico assolo di piano. Lyle Mays vi esprime un suono cristallino e uno stile molto personale, che non sempre fa notare la grande tecnica di cui è dotato ma piuttosto la sua grande sensibilità e ricerca melodica. Ora i dischi da solista del pianista del Wisconsin sono sempre più rari, ma nel frattempo la consolidata partnership con Metheny continua, anche se indubbiamente sono più le glorie del passato a rendere importante e indelebile la collaborazione tra i due.
