Epic Battle: Marriland vs. Untouchable I don't usually battle people, but this chap named IIIUNTOUCHABLEIII stopped by my Forums and claimed to be unbeatable. Now, that's fine, but after bringing a topic up to 280 posts in just a day, he certainly got my attention, so I thought it would be fun to challenge him. I'm sure that he'll become quite the force to be reckoned with after stickin' around the Marriland Forums for awhile. O_O Just to clear things up: I DID NOT COME UP WITH THE RATTATA IDEA! REAVERZ FROM GAMEFAQS DID! I just happened to see a topic on it awhile back and then decided to try it out for kicks. Q: OMFG HOW DID RATTATA PWNZ0R EMPOLEON!?!?!1 A: Focus Sash works like a Focus Band (leaves you with 1 HP left) if the user is KO'ed while it has full HP. Then, I used Endeavor, which effectively sets the opponent's HP to Rattata's (1 HP). Lastly, I use Quick Attack to ensure a KO on the following turn. Q: HOW DID YOU GET A LEVEL 1 RATTATA W/ QUICK ATTACK AND ENDEAVOR?! A: Breed two Raticates (catch on Route 225 / 226) that know Endeavor (already learned) and Quick Attack (use a Heart Scale ON EACH ONE) and the egg will have those moves in it. Q: YOUR RATTATA IS ONLY AT LEVEL ONE, CHEATER! A: Eggs now hatch at Level 1 instead of Level 5. Q: WHAT DOES F.E.A.R. STAND FOR? I KEEP HEARING IT USED? A: It stands for "[-]---ing [E]vil [A]nnoying [R]odent," although I prefer the family-friendly version, "[F]ocus sash + [E]ndeavor + quick [A]ttack + [R]attata." D/P Wi-Fi Battle: Marriland gets defeated by a Bidoof! Description has spoilers! Don't click 'til done! Music is "The Final Battle" by PLBenjaminZ http://www.ocremix.org Be sure to watch until the very end. Heh. Ok, April Fools is over, so I'll do some explaining. First off, I didn't want to spoil it when the video was first released, but I'll do so now just so there is no confusion. Q: The opponent? JohnnyW? A: That was me. My friend, Johnny, had his DS and Diamond washed in the laundry, wrecking them both. However, I got the Diamond version to work again, so he said I could have it. I used my other DS and that game in this fight since any of my other versions would have been easily recognizable. Q: His team? Those scrublings? Are they hacked? A: They are hacked, but purely for convenience sake and for a show. There was nothing illegal about them and anyone could make that same team 100% legit if given enough patience. To be technical, they did have legit EV spreads (max 510) and movesets, and although all of their IVs were 31, some are just redundant and unnecessary to have max so you could still obtain them through breeding. Q: How the !@#$ did a wimp team like that beat you? A: I spent 5 or 6 hours doing damage calculations and literally mapping out the whole battle, all while trying to remain true to the tactics and strategies of the old Marriland Team. You should see the text document I have of pure notes and calculations. It took a lot of work and effort, but seriously, any of you guys could have done just the same assuming you watched my videos with the original team to see how I act and respond and made the proper calculations. I even posted my exact stats for my Pokemon, making damage calculations a snap! Q: Why did you use Drill Peck on Nosepass? A: Nosepass had Magnet Pull, which stops Steel-types from switching or using moves like Roar and Whirlwind. After Nosepass used Taunt, which prevents the target from using non-offensive moves, the ONLY thing I could have done short of running was use Drill Peck and let Nosepass set up on me. Q: Why did you do that? This whole thing? A: Thought it'd be funny. Even though it was set up and arranged, it's still a conceivable battle that could have happened. I just wanted to do it for April Fool's Day just because, like messing with my homies on the Marriland Forums, I wanted to mess with you YouTubers. (; Q: Do you HACK?! A: Yes and no. The Pokemon I used to fight myself with were hacked, although with legitimate stats and movesets (so, "fair hacking," as I call it) and just so I could actually do an April Fool's Day joke without wasting precious time I could use training up my new Pokemon for battling. Any Pokemon that I use for competitive battling is completely legit, bred (or sometimes caught) naturally and, particularly in my newer teams, bred very carefully to get good IVs. I will admit that, after I've got one with good IVs, right Egg Moves, and EV Trained it (I most certainly do NOT hack or fudge around with those! That is the true hard work involved in making a competitive team), I will use Rare Candies to bring it up to Level 100, BUT ONLY BECAUSE you can't battle at a set level of 100 in local battles, but you can on Wi-Fi, which is really dumb. I battle against some of my friends locally, and they use Action Replay to get up to Level 100, so I do that just so we can both battle like we would on Wi-Fi. Since, other than battling those friends in-person, I have absolutely NO reason to train them to Level 100 if it sets them to Level 100 on Wi-Fi anyway, I don't have a moral problem with it, and I doubt anyone fighting me would, either. Go ahead and call me a "dirty cheater" because I want to battle friends in-person that all do the same. (: Q: Are you battling again?! A: Not now, but, as a little teaser, I actually have quite a lot of new Pokemon available to battle that really makes any of my old teams laughable. Q: When are you battling again?! Three people, and that's it, just to test my skill level and hopefully rack up some losses. Disfunction (thecarious on YouTube) is the second of the challenged people, and this is our match. I think my biggest mess-up was thinking his Lucario was an Endure + Reversal or Sash + Reversal getting set up to sweep my team, but it was a Special-based one that I could see. I will probably start accepting them again around the time of Pokemon Battle Revolution's American debut (June 25th), although I want to get a new team thrown together beforehand. MapleGuru really went the extra mile to get me to battle him. He made not one, but two videos on YouTube calling me out, and claiming that he had analyzed my team and figured out how to beat it. Normally, I wouldn't have accepted the challenge, but he sure did go through more trouble than most would to battle me. And besides, he gave me almost two weeks notice, which is plenty of heads up and let me fit it into my schedule. Pro tip of the day: Status conditions don't stack (Attract and Confused don't count). If you are Paralyzed, you cannot become Asleep, Frozen, Burned, or Poisoned. Same holds true for any other status condition. Always remember that, or you'll end up wasting turns. Three people, and that's it, just to test my skill level and hopefully rack up some losses. Flashfox is the third and final of these challenges, and I'm glad to have gotten a chance to battle him. Flashfox had plenty of style. I wasn't expecting a Hail-based team, and even if I did, it's not like I really had much that could counter it anyway. I wish I would have lead with Blissey for the T1 Stealth Rock like I was planning on (opted for the sure thing with Gyarados, although that didn't go so well). And I was REAAAAALLLLYY hoping that he didn't have an Electivire, but I guess I misplayed there and got greedy trying to get a free T-Wave off of something. DX Let this be a lesson that I am not the best, nor have I (as in, me personally) ever claimed to be. Hopefully this calms everyone down and shows 'ya that I'm just a normal battler that is trying to get some practice. d: Now I'm off to train a bunch of Pokemon to build a new team with! Shortly after the release of Pokemon Battle Revolution, I said that I would start accepting challenges again. Big mistake. It ended up that just everyone and their mom wanted to battle me, and it really took all of the fun right out of it for me. But anyway, The2ndKid was one of my opponents, and he actually gave me a great challenge. I'm using a new team, but I don't really like it all that much. It lacks defensive prowess, and I'm just not used to that. I made a lot of mistakes in this fight and didn't predict very well. I got really lucky on a critical hit, though. Part of me misses the days when battling was fun, and my old team was new and exciting... but now I just don't have the time to train up Pokemon for new teams and concepts. A Beauty on Route 221 has a single Lopunny that gives about 1300 EXP when you beat it, not to mention she gives you about $4300 if you have an Amulet Coin equipped, so she's great to Vs. Seeker spam over and over again. Obviously you'll do a lot better if you have a strong Fighting-type attack to take it out in one shot, but otherwise it's still good training for a whole bunch of other Pokemon. It does know Charm, though, which can spoil your Physical-based Pokemon's fun, so try to OHKO it before it can use that. There's also a Rich Boy on the same route with a lone Luxio that gives just about 1000 EXP, but over $13000 with an Amulet Coin equipped, so he's another great option to fight for lots of money and a good amount of EXP. Plus Luxio isn't too rough, other than it using Swagger to confuse you. Official Marriland Tournament Final: Lyfsaho vs Method The official Marriland Tournament Final, just as the title says xD. If you want to know how a real pokemon match looks like, watch this. Two things here cost me the match: 1. Incredible mistake when I let Heatran be killed by EQ, his entire team besides Aerodactyl was weak to it. 2. Luck hax on his part when fire blast missed Bronzong on the switch in: Bronzong would have been dead otherwise and as you can see it was what won him the match in the end. Pokemon Blog 137: A Platinum Question for Marriland... I think Marriland can answer the question that I have about PBR and Platinum, But technically, anybody with Japanese PBR and Platinum will be able to answer this question and it's important that we find out relatively soon. In PBR multiplayer, when you play as your game charecter (not your custom charecter) you see the boy in the Red Beret or Dawn. If you use Platinum, will the clothings be different since the charecters wear different clothes in Platinum? I'm subscribed to Marriland so if Marriland does a video showing the trainers new 3d appearence I'll be able to see it right after he posts it, but if anyone else makes a video about it, please post it as a video response. I'm not sure if this question was previously answered. If anyone has any proof about the 3d appearence of Platinum Trainers, please show it to me. Thank you for your time... It's not that I didn't sing it deeply enough; I wanted to make the ending somewhat annoying (to increase the overall "QUALITY"), so I altered the pitches. I also wanted to make it sound like chaos had sung it, but if I went any deeper, it would have sounded like crap, so I just settled with that pitch. I never intended for this to become a "series". I made the original "Serebii vs Marriland" video because of a debate on a board at the time about who was better. I made "Vegeta vs Marriland" because some users kept acting l33t0rz. I made this thing because I kept getting overflowing e-mails and PMs about a "Chaos vs Marriland" video, so I made it. This is the last video I'm making of this for a while, so stop sending me messages to make more. Yes, the drawings were done intentionally bad (hence all the "white" thingies, the miscolorings, etc.). Plus, I'm not that good of an artist, so that helped out a lot. There is one half-decent drawing, though (try to find it if you can). The only parts that were done in Flash were the drawing parts (so that the lines didn't look like pixels). All animations were done either through special effects or manually moving the things and recording them (again, to increase the "QUALITY"). I noticed on the "Ingrain" part, the video seems to freeze a little bit. I didn't notice that, so yeah. Also, this video was meant to me more "storyline-like" than "joke-joke-joke", so comedy-wise, Serebii vs Marriland is probably better, but I like this one's storyline more. Finally, I would just like to say that all things Pokémon-related are owned by Nintendo and Game Freak. Without them, there would be a lot of bored little boys and girls out there. Despite the companies making lots of money, you all (including myself) keep buying their games, so they must be doing something right. NOTE: "QUALITY" is a term, when capitalized, that means the opposite of its face value. If you do not understand this, you need to, as they would say, "murk loar". Marriland Semi Final Tournament!! Wifi Battle #43 Vs Monztor This is the long awaited semi final match between myself and Monztor. Our original match today d/c'd at 6-4 to Monztor which is very unfortunate for him. As we could not recreate the original moves again the same way because of luck being a factor and our own memories, we just re did the original 4-5 moves. The second time we re did it there was a problem too, so sadly I had to sit and watch my Hero die three times, and if anything can dent your confidence its seeing your favourite guy take so many repeated KOs... or maybe it spurred me on... Spoilers follow: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One word is thrown around a lot in wifi battles. I have seen it misused countless times, often in a sneaky way to lure surfing youtubers onto the channel. But this battle is surely earning of that word. And the word is epic! Any 0-0 is going to be a tight affair. Bt given the hax that both parties endure (admittedly Monztor suffers more) it makes the scoreline all the more dramatic! It's impossible not to feel like you cheated someone when they get para, crit, para all in a row, but Jirachi's ability is Serene Grace so that explains a little, but still bad luck Monztor. My bad luck hits me at a crucial point. Jirachi starts missing with a slightly innaccurate Zen Headbutt and faints when he could have caused more damage. In my head at this point I was confident, I knew all he had after Gastrodon was an orbed Metagross and that couldn't take out all 4 of my guys (taking into account the recoil damage and SR). Jirachi's untimely death followed by Sekhmet's missed Overheat hurt me bad. They no longer factor in the recoil damage equation because metagross doesn't have to attack them. And looking at the hp it was left with after one ST from Miltank there was no way it could have been able to take out even one more guy and survive the ST. But luck is a factor in pokemon and only adds to the tension in the battle. This was a truely great battle, like all the ones before in the tournament and the final should not be far away. NB: Monztor gave me the win for the match instead of a replay because he is unable to battle for a few days and he felt bad at keeping me waiting for a week leading up to the match. A very good sport and an excellent opponent. In the final I will be fighting for both of us!
