Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu desu Okay, well, I decided to look up some Kunio-Kun games. For those of you unaware, these are the gems such as River City Ransom, Crash 'n the Boys, and Nintendo World Cup - all great NES games. However, there were a lot of withheld Kunio-Kun games as well, including sequels to Nintendo World Cup and Crash 'n the Boys. There was even a basketball game using three baskets! Anyways, pictured here is one of the games I liked - a brawler called Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu. I created a character and took him through Story Mode, got his levels up, and then I copied down the password (which was in hiragana) and went to the free-for-all mode. For reference, my character (not sure of the name) is the one wearing the judo clothing, the headband, and he can't stop looking at the camera. My opponents are Kunio, Riki, and a third opponent I'll call Mike. If you can't recognize it, Kunio wears short shorts and a muscle shirt, Riki wears everyday clothing, and Mike wears no shirt and black pants - sort of like Liu Kang. Anyways, this is an unedited series of free-for-all fighting between the four of us. I managed to fit six fights into this video but I didn't edit them at all. I might make more fights between other characters. Also, sorry people who wanted to see Kunio or Riki win. I might do storyline fights soon, maybe. Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio Tachi no Banka - Part 1A Remember River City Ransom? Well, it's time for a history lesson. :) Say hello to the REAL Alex and Ryan! Their actual names are Kunio (Alex) and Riki (Ryan). Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio Tachi no Banka is the direct sequal of two games, one being River City Ransom (Or Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari) and Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-kun (Where Kunio/Alex was actually enemies with Riki/Ryan). As you can see this game was released for the Super Famicon (SNES). The plot is that Kunio and Riki are framed for a Hit and Run accident, and are carted off to jail, however Kunio won't accept this and decides to break out and try to clear his name. In this game you can do almost as much as River City Ransom, however the RPG element has been taken out of the game (So no items, shops, stats, ect.) however, the fighting is still good, plus it comes with 2-Player Co-Op! This is the first part of the first area of the game. NOTE: Kunio and Riki DO NOT have their full powers due to the lack of their school uniforms, so they are resorted to just normal punches and kicks. Sharp X68000 - Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari My beat-em-up Kunio kun collection is finally complete. I finally got my Sharp X6800 emulator to work, and got the DNM ROM. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. This game features an incredible array of areas, unlike the original. There are different high schools you can travel to and tons more bosses. Shin Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Tachi...- Part 1 Kunio and Riki hit some random guy with a motorcycle! They get sent to jail! They fight! They break out of jail! They fight again! All before the title screen! -- These damn cutscenes... oh, anyway. This is essentially a SNES extension of the Renegade/Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun game on the NES. These two are the same characters however, from one of my favorite games of all time, River City Ransom. In this respect, Kunio is Alex, and Riki is Ryan. This isn't however, a Downtown Nekketsu game, so it's not a direct sequel to the game. It is however, in the Kunio series, as are Super Dodge Ball (which also has a sequel on the SNES), Nintendo World Cup, and Crash N' The Boys: Street Challenge (and it's sequel that got canceled here). Also, you can play as both Kunio and Riki. You switch between the two by pressing the Select button. Of course, the game IS two players, and so on and so forth.
