Pecha Kucha: Get to the PowerPoint in 20 Slides Let us now bullet-point our praise for Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein, two Tokyo-based architects who have turned PowerPoint, that fixture of cubicle life, into both art form and competitive sport. Their innovation, dubbed pecha-kucha (Japanese for "chatter"), applies a simple set of rules to presentations: exactly 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each. That's it. Say what you need to say in six minutes and 40 seconds of exquisitely matched words and images and then sit the hell down. The result, in the hands of masters of the form, combines business meeting and poetry slam to transform corporate clich into surprisingly compelling beat-the-clock performance art. The duo — Dytham is British, Klein Italian — invented pecha-kucha four years ago to help revive a struggling performance space they owned. The first presentations were such a hit that they began hosting monthly pecha-kucha events, boozy affairs at which Tokyo architects and designers showcased their streamlined offerings to crowds of hundreds. Now there are pecha-nights in 80 cities, from Amsterdam and Atlanta to San Francisco and Shanghai. Why? Dytham believes that the rules have a liberating effect. "Suddenly," he says, "there's no preciousness in people's presentations." Just poetry. By Dan Pink | Wired Magazine Issue 15.09 Tags: Wired Pecha Kucha |

Penta PowerPoint Remote Mouse Penta PowerPoint Remote Mouse -- The product is officially called the Penta Sport Remote Mouse and it was designed for all types of computer presentations like PowerPoint, Keynote, Adobe Presenter, or any other presentation software that is compatible with a standard mouse. One of the most notable features of the Penta Sport is that it has 3 buttons dedicated to PowerPoint functions. The first 2 buttons are slide advance buttons that allow you to go forward or reverse through your PowerPoint slides. The third button is a "Start PowerPoint" button that allows you to put PowerPoint into "Play Mode" at the touch of a single button. In addition to PowerPoint, the Penta Sport can also be used as a general all-purpose remote mouse for such applications as home entertainment centers. *PowerPoint is a registered trademark of Microsoft corporation. About The Video: I think the video does a good job of presenting high resolution/quality photos at the beginning so that the viewer gets a good visual idea of the product. I like the second segment where the gentleman does a good job of explaining the basic features of the product. PowerPoint 2007 Demo: Get up to speed See more PowerPoint 2007 demos at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/FX100485311033.aspx Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 has a new design. The new Ribbon keeps the commands that you use most often visible while you're working instead of hiding under menus or toolbars that you have to hunt for. Also, commands that you may not have known about before are now very easy to discover. When it comes to designing your slides, live preview of style galleries lets you see how things such as backgrounds and shape formatting will look before you apply them. A new SmartArt graphics feature offers new diagram types and more layout options, and lets you convert text such as a bulleted list into a diagram. ARTstor: Download Images to PowerPoint I have an assignment for my visual studies class to investigate a single work of art in ARTstor. The first thing I'll do is open a web browser and go to artstor.org. Once that page loads I will move to the right and click on the "go" button to enter the digital library. My instructor has set aside a folder for our class so, I will open the Folders and Image group section on this page. I will scroll down this list, until I see it. There it is, Visual Studies 101. Wheni sect the plus sign the folder opens so I can see the image groups within it. I open it by double clicking on the image group or by using the open button. Now I have already looked at the images in this group and I have decided that this is the one I will use for my class. I will double click on it to get it in a larger window. I will need to use this entire image for my presentation so I will move over here to the lower right and click on the download button to save it to my computer. I will accept the terms and conditions and save it to a folder that lives on my desktop. Then I will go into that folder see that two files downloaded. One is the image, and the other is caption information. I'm going to go ahead and rename both right now. Then I will go back to ARTstor and look for a detail I'd like to use for class. I'll just zoom in on different sections until I find one I like. There I think that's it, yes this is the one I'm going to use for class. Now when I download it, I will just get this detail. I will save it to the same folder. I will go back in that folder and rename these two new files as well. Now I can close this and go into PowerPoint. I already have slides set up so now I just need to insert the images. I do this by going to Insert, Picture, from File. I will select the larger image first. Now its actually is too large for my slide, so I'm going to have to resize it. Then I will do the same thing with the other slide. Again it's a little too large, so I will resize it, there. Then I can go and save my presentation and my project is done. Tags: ARTstor PowerPoint Download 1024 education training in minutes |
