EMPOWERING WOMEN V.001 Audrey Kitagawa: When we understand that women represent 50 percent of the world's population, there is no rational reason why women should be so disadvantaged, and we really need to transform that disadvantage because you cannot oppress, suppress, repress 50 percent of the world's population and expect that we are to progress positively as a human family. The current power structures do not support the advancement of women, but increasingly women themselves must step into the shoes of their own empowerment. And the rise of the women's movement has certainly helped women to advance, but we also need to have men open, hold open the doors for women to walk through. We definitely need to have reformation of people's thinking and perspectives, but governments that do not sign treaties that seek to eliminate discrimination against women ought to be held accountable for their failure to do so, and organizations, whether they're in the form of religious organizations or other political, societal, economic institutions that do not treat women equally, also need to be reformed. It is a mind-set that locks women into certain behaviors, that some would say are determined by biology alone, that ultimately seeks to regulate the role of women, but we -- our role goes well beyond that of just bearing children. Culture club - God thank you woman From Luxury to Heartache is an album by New Wave band Culture Club, released in 1986. From Luxury to Heartache was a deliberate departure for Culture Club, a move away from the reggae-flavoured pop of their previous releases into dance-oriented music. Veteran pop and R&B producer Arif Mardin, replaced Steve Levine, in a bid to revitalise the band's sound. Due to lead singer Boy George's growing addiction to drugs, recordings dragged on for so long that Mardin had to disband the sessions and leave it up to engineer Lew Hahn to record the final vocals. Songs like "Gusto Blusto" and "Reasons" took days for the addicted singer to finish. Following the release of the album, rumours of George's heroin addiction began to circulate in the tabloids, and by the summer of 1986, he announced that he was indeed addicted to drugs. In July, he was arrested by the British police for possession of cannabis. Several days later, keyboardist Michael Rudetsky, who played on the album and had co-written "Sexuality" with George, was found dead of a heroin overdose in George's home. Despite selling a little less than a million records worldwide and chart success with the opening track "Move Away", Boy George decided for a solo career within a year of the album's release. "God Thank You Woman" was the second single in UK but only reached #31 in the chart while in the US "Gusto Blusto" was chosen, but didn't chart (the single didn't have a video and probably this is the reason that it did not enter the US chart). The next single "Heaven's Children" was planned to be released in July after the lack of success of "God Thank You Woman" but the release was cancelled. The band reformed in 1990 and in 1998. OHIO COURTS UNFAIR! Part 2 :We need court reform! If the Judge in your town blatenly favors women, then dont vote for him!!First of all I received a copy of the Judges ordering her custody and me to pay support. They enclosed the calculation sheets they used to determine the child support. On this sheet there is a place to give me a credit for my 9 year old son. On that blank they didn't give me credit for my oldest whom lives with me like they should have. Instead my ex's attorney put an asterisk there and at the bottom of the form she added something that wasn't even a part of this state produced form. She said that she didn't give me a credit for my oldest son "because I voluntarily didn't collect support from his mother." I had explained in court that my first divorce we had agreed on joint custody with him splitting time with both of us and therefore at that time there was no need for support to each other. When my oldest son's mother moved out of state it was a month after my 2nd wife split. I was already up to my eyeballs in lawyer fees over my Ohio custody and my Missouri divorce. You see I had to hire an attorney in Missouri for my divorce and a lawyer in Ohio for my custody case. I stated that in court. SO therefore her attorney makes up this rule that she doesn't have to count him, when on the form it says no where that there is an exception to claim my oldest son. So lets see, "sorry buddy, since you're not getting any support for your oldest we will just charge you 250.00 dollars more for not having money for him." How does this theory make any since? I actually did ask for support from my oldest son's mother, I just didn't have the money to take her to court. The other thing that bothers me is that on the Judges comments for his decision he stated that my son has separation anxiety and is upset by my visits. He got that from what my ex testified. She had NO witnesses to support that claim. I HAD witnesses that testified that my son NEVER has cried when she's dropped him off and has been so happy to be with me. The only time he has ever cried is in May when I gave him back to her after a visit, He cried for me and reached for me. I even had hundreds of pictures of my son from all my visits there and the judge saw in everyone of them a little boy who was happy and smiling and hugging his older brother in allot of them or hugging me. So HOW IN THE HECK does he side with her and say that my son had anxiety being away from her? He said my son appears to know me "somewhat."How can he say that after the pictures he saw and the testimonies he heard from my witnesses that he knows me? This judge is a piece of work I tell you. SO not only does he give her custody on a testimony that she had NO evidence to support yet he dismissed my testimony which was filled with evidence? Furthermore he allows my ex's attorney to decide the child support? He allows her attorney to NOT COUNT my oldest son as an exemption because I didn't have the money to have 3 lawyers and 3 trials at the same time? This whole process was a waste of my time and money because obviously the judge didn't consider ANY of our evidence. He even said that I come form a close knit family while her family is more estranged from her and my son? The judge also goes on to say that she "has followed through on advice from a psychologist," when she NEVER showed evidence to support that claim and once again she HAD ZERO witnesses! She had admitted in court that she suffers from post partum depression and takes meds for it, yet the judge states that neither parent suffers from any mental problems? What the heck is post partum depression when your child is 2? . I am still in shock over the whole thing and to top it all off to order me to pay 1,500.00 of her attorney fees as well was the icing on the cake. With a solitary men's jurisdiction, the delivery of justice is so appallingly inefficient that only the privileged have access to a fair outcome. The Constitution of Australia which establishes the courts, recognised men's inalienable right to make decisions about their own lives without fear of interruption or intimidation at inception. It is an utterly sexist, discriminatory and unquestionably inappropriate and grossly inefficient and ineffective document in the governance of the nation, a document serving the interests of men exclusively. In absence of the recognition of a collective women's mind and with the presumption of the alienation of women at promulgation, the Australian Constitution invests men only with power regardless of women's participation in legislatures and the law. A women's court is best equipped to deal with a female applicant or defendant yet the only courts available are those set up by men to which women are invited so long as they don't assert that women, collectively, think differently from men or that what's on a woman's mind is more justly considered by another woman. Relations between women and men are the basis of society. The state of mind of the applicant, witness or defendant, is the basis of law. Configuring society with the law equitably is the basis of justice. With the provision of both women's and men's legislatures and jurisdictions, the women and men who make the rules and deliver judicial decisions, will, as they do now in the men's legislatures and jurisdiction, consider each other when making laws and delivering decisions. When disputes of sufficient animosity arise between the rules and decisions women and men make, elders may intervene. Moreover, the judiciary is not sufficiently inept as to be unable to configure existing resources according to the essential nature of the service its members provide. The efficiency outcome obtained by clearing up the massive confusion of a system based on guesswork should provide all people with access to justice not just corporations with sufficient funds to buy justice as is the current approach. Streamlining the delivery of justice with constitutional reform providing for women's and men's legislatures presided over by an executive of elders accompanied by courts of women's and men's jurisdiction is essential to the future of the nation. 1 August, 2007 Common and Statute law Tags: women politics law

Due to the economic crisis in Zimbabwe, post the land reform in 2000, many manufacturers of sanitary products fled the country. As a result, the price of sanitary wear has gone up and millions of Zimbabwean women are forced to replace sanitary napkins with unsanitary alternatives. Apart from serious health issues that can even increase the chances of getting HIV, many women cannot work and some school girls cannot attend school while they have their periods.
