Pink Floyd "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" Syd Barrett Tribute Just something simple for people to put on their MySpaces, etc. This is the version from the old VHS tape of Pulse (which IMHO had much better camera angles than the new DVD). The beginning and one verse from the middle (at 6:13) had to be edited out to fit it into YouTube's 10 min. requirement. But the whole movie they showed at the concert is here since it's probably supposed to represent Syd's life (or anybody's).... This is from Earl's Court, London in October of 1994. #31 Syd Matters - Everything Else Grand appartement bourgeois parisien transformé en bureau d'un nouveau label à succès. Voilà le cadre improbable pour cette session d'hiver. Le groupe hésite sur la pièce, la crainte d'un peu trop de reverb... On se met en place et les trois voix en harmonie d'"Everything Else" remplissent la pièce et, on doit bien l'avouer, nous laisse sous le choc. Ce morceau restera comme l'un des plus beaux de l'année 2008. Pas facile de se concentrer et continuer à filmer tellement on a envie de se laisser porter par l'incroyable mélodie de "Everything else". Syd Matters enchainera trois autres morceaux continuant à nous faire rever, à nous donner envie de passer la nuit à les écouter. Mais nous devons repartir dans le froid -oubliant même totalement de leur parler de notre ami Jason Glasser, de Fruitkey qui a travaillé avec eux sur toutes les images du groupe, la journée promo continue pour eux... Syd Barrett - Bob Dylan Blues Song originally written by Syd as a teen during the height of Bob Dylan mania in Europe (pre-Pink Floyd). During the recording of one of his solo albums (post-Pink Floyd), Syd was reminded of this track by producer David Gilmour & encouraged to record it. That tape stayed in Gilmours possession for 30+ years until released in 2001. In "Bob Dylan Blues", Syd not only composes a song poking fun at all of the Bob Dylan hype, but manages to do it in Bob Dylan's own walking blues style! The music video is by director Jimmy Lee. It was made during his freshman year of college at Temple University in Philadelphia. This was his first attempt at editing a video on a computer. Syd Barrett Tribute 1946-2006 RIP As a huge Pink Floyd fan and after hearing the sad news of Syd passing away I felt compelled to make this short tribute slide show to celebrate his life. This I think is the first tribute video to appear on You Tube after his death was announced in the media, and also the first to not use the obvious choices of 'Wish You Were Here' or 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', I chose 'See Emily Play' mainly because after Syd had seen a documentary about himself in 2002 he commented about how it was good to hear 'Emily' again, that was a good enough reason for me to choose this song. When I heard the news it took me a little over an hour to complete this video while my feelings of his loss were still fresh, it's not as fancy or polished as it could have been but it's the feeling I wanted to convey. Ultra Rare Syd Barrett Pink Floyd - "Let's Roll Another One" "Let's Roll Another One" was the original title of "Candy and a Current Bun," the B-side of Pink Floyd's first single "Arnold Layne." The changes between the official version and this, the original version, are small. The song has no reference in the lyrics to the phrase "Let's roll another one," but it does include the lyric "I'm high! Don't try to spoil the fun." Their record company would not release the song with such a blatant drug reference, so they had Syd change the song. There are a few other lyrical differences between the two versions.
