Serbo-croat aggression on Bosnia, the so-called Bosnian War (aimed only at those Croats who are/were supporters of Franjo Tudman and Mate Boban. Long live Blaz Kraljevic) In the years 1992-1995, Serbs and Bosnian Croats commited genocide on the Bosniak people, this in an attempt to split the Bosniak land between one another (Karadordevo agreement). Most Croats living in Croatia however never had genocide in mind, unfortunately the big mistake they made was electing Franjo Tudman for president, he in collaboration with the Mate Boban regime of Croats in Bosnia planned an extermination. Systematic war rape, killing and torture was the every day instrument of Serbo-Croat militias, while the rest of the world stood by and watched these perpetrators murder an innocent and helpless nation. Despite the advantage in military equipment and manpower the serbo-croats lacked what the Bosniaks had; heart and courage. Blaz Kraljevic - the Bosnian Croat commander who supported a united front of Bosniaks and Croats against the Serb aggressors, was killed in the beginning of the aggression by mercenaries sent by Mate Boban's regime. May he rest in peace. The Bosnian nation survived and still exists, all the horrible memories through the years of aggression will only motivate Bosnia to expand and continue to fight for humanity against radical serbo-croat evil. Srebrenica massacre During the War in Bosnia (1992--1995), the Srebrenica region saw heavy fighting. Hundreds of victims (Serbs as well as Bosniaks) fell in the first years of the war, also among the civilian population. The town at the centre of the municipality became a Bosnian Muslim/Bosniak enclave surrounded by Serbs. In April 1993, the United Nations declared Srebrenica a UN safe area, guarded by a small unit operating under the mandate of United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR). Nevertheless, the town was captured by the Army of Republika Srpska in July 1995. Approximately eight thousand Bosniaks were massacred by Serbian forces in the aftermath. The Srebrenica massacre is also referred to as the Srebrenica genocide, and it is considered as such by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.[3] This was followed by an admission to and an apology for the massacre by the Republika Srpska government Tags: Srebrenica massacre bosnia srpska |

Story of Mitrovica behind the headlines ESI PRODUCTIONS MITROVICA chronicle of a death foretold? Caption: Filmed in Summer 2003 Titles sequence Voiceover (In English) The future of the Mitrovica region, once the industrial heart of Kosovo, is hanging in the balance. Foreign peacekeepers and police patrol the town. In the world, Mitrovica is widely known for its separated communities and images of ethnic violence. International forces guard the lines of division. Behind the headlines there is a story of economic collapse. 11,000 people once worked at Mitrovica's major employer, the Trepa mining and metallurgy enterprise. Mitrovica was a multi-ethnic "one--company" town. But fire has destroyed its zinc processing plant. Its mine, once one of the biggest in Europe, is affected by flooding. And its lead smelter is closed because of environmental concerns. Today Trepča produces and sells nothing. Mitrovica's divided status means that money comes in from Pristina and Belgrade, and from international organisations. But how long will this last? Who will invest in the future? Other regions of the Balkans deal with ethnic tension. Other towns of the Balkans face industrial decline. Mitrovica faces both. So can the town survive? Can the people of Mitrovica's various communities rebuild their lives? INTERVIEW WITH 3 BOYS (UNNAMED) Caption: Partisan Hill -- North Mitrovica First boy (in Albanian) The people living here... how can I say this?...are Albanians, Serbs (Shkije) and Bosniaks. Three people. The Albanian houses are down there, around here, and on the other side of the bridge. The Serbs live around here, down there as well as downtown. The Bosniaks live there and up here. Yes, here there are Albanians, Serbs and Bosniaks. Second boy (In Serbian) There are three kinds of people, three nationalities, three nations living in these three apartment blocks -- -- Shiptars-Albanians, Serbs and Bosniaks. Third boy (In Serbian) I live in Mikronaselje, which is in Mitrovica. My street is Vlade Ćetkovića and a mix of people live there. There are Serbs, Muslims, Albanians. We are friends with them. They like to provoke us, but we don't care about that. That is what I have to tell you. I live modestly with my family, I have a brother, mother and father. Bad Religion - Tiny Voices lyrics (words and music by Greg Graffin) It was inspired by the war in Bosnia. The Bosnian War, was an armed conflict that took place between March 1992 and November 1995 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The war was primarily fought between the Bosnian Muslim-majority Bosnian government based in Sarajevo and the Bosnian Serbs. Bosnian Croats also fought in the war against the Serbs, both with and against the Bosnianks. The Bosnian Serbs were backed by Yugoslavia while the Bosnian Croats were backed by Croatia. However, also the UN, NATO, and Iran participated in the conflict to a greater or lesser extent. These factions changed objectives and allegiances several times at various stages of the war (see Parties Involved). Because the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina was a consequence of instability in the wider region of the former Yugoslavia, and due to the involvement of neighboring countries Croatia and Yugoslavia, there was long-standing debate as to whether the conflict was a civil war or a war of aggression. Most Bosniaks claim that it was a war of Serbian and Croatian aggression, while Bosnian Serbs often consider it a civil war. The involvement of NATO, during the 1995 Operation Deliberate Force against the positions of the Army of Republika Srpska internationalized the conflict, but only in its final stages. The war was brought to an end after the signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in Paris on 14 December 1995. Peace negotiations were held in Dayton, Ohio, and were finalized on 21 December 1995. The accords are known as the Dayton Agreement. Most recent research places the total number of victims of the conflict at around 100,000--110,000 killed (civilians and military), and 1.8 million displaced (see Casualties). Of those killed (soldiers and civilians), 65% were Bosniaks, 25% Bosnian Serbs and 8% Croats. However, 83% of civilian victims were Bosniaks There's an error in this song...waking a bear = waking we bear... Bosnia and Herzegovina is Croatia!! http://www.croatianhistory.net/etf/et02.html Let us start by describing many traces left by the Turkish Ottoman Empire. This civilization, that was present on Croatian soil from the 15th to the 19th century (in eastern parts of former Yugoslavia until the beginning of the 20th century), left a deep imprint. Many Croats converted to Islam. The Muslim Slavs are in great majority of Croatian descent, and constitute now a nation, recognized according to their own wish in 1968 (Muslimani has been the usual name since the beginning of the 20th century). Except in Croatia they live today mostly in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Sandzak (a province in the south of Serbia, between Montenegro, Kosovo and Bosnia). There were many disputes even about the name of "Muslimani", which was defined to have only the national content (i.e. one could have been Musliman without being religious at all, as was the case for example with Raif Dizdarevic, former president of former Yugoslavia; of course, his predecessors were Muslims). On the other hand the term "musliman" (with small m) had the meaning of Muslim exclusively in the religious sense. The way out was to choose an old geographical name Bosniak, which traditionally denoted any citizen of Bosnia - either Croat (as we said, many of them have Bosniak as a surname), or Muslim, or Serb. It is strange that this usurpation of the name of Bosniak has been accepted even in the official Croatia. From this easily follows a complete usurpation of the Bosnian name (usurpation of Bosnian literature, language and of the entire history of Bosnia). Of course, we do not deny the right of Muslim - Bosniaks to call themselves Bosniaks. We would like to indicate that the name of Bosniaks does not refer exclusively to Bosnian Muslims, but to Bosnian Croats too. Among them there are refugees, those who lost close family members, those who were children at wartime, former combatants, believers, altogether people who's opinion is rarely heard and asked for. Trnopolje The picture that fooled the world - Though murder of civilians and more did indeed take place back then, the 50 kilos Alic was not in a concentration camp looking out at the camera. The cameraman was the one behind the wire and Alic was the one looking in. This [1992] fact came to light long after the war had ended, when the British LM magazine published an article in 1998 which claimed that this was 'The picture that fooled the world'. LM reported that the barbed wire in the picture is not around the Bosniaks; it is around the cameraman and the journalists. It formed part of a broken-down barbed wire fence encircling a small compound that was next to Trnopolje camp. The British [ITN] news team filmed from inside this compound, shooting pictures of the refugees and the camp through the compound fence. In the eyes of many who saw them, the resulting pictures left the false impression that the Bosniaks were caged behind barbed wire. ITN was outraged that anyone should question the integrity of its journalists and promptly took LM to court for libel. The case became a battle between liberal journalists - who had taken the side of the Bosniaks, regularly painting a picture of Serbia bad, everyone else good - and more independent minded writers, such as BBC journalist John Simpson, who argued that the war was not nearly as black and white as that, and awful things were perpetrated by both sides, though a majority of them were, indeed, done by Serbs. Liberals used the 'Serbian fascist' argument to call for intervention in the war by Nato. As to whether Alic was in or outside the camp, the judge in the libel trial in London agreed with LM magazine, which wrote after the case had finished: Justice Morland had to concede in his summing up, 'Clearly [ITN journalists] Ian Williams and Penny Marshall and their TV teams were mistaken in thinking they were not enclosed by the old barbed-wire fence'. - Video here: http://snipurl.com/3j6wf - Also watch: http://snipurl.com/3i2xt Tags: ChoiceJJ Yugoslavia Bosnia ITN LM Alic jjvanka |

Srebrenica Massacre-part1 The Srebrenica Massacre, also known as Srebrenica Genocide, was the July 1995 killing of an estimated 8,000 Bosniak males, in the region of Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina by units of the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) under the command of General Ratko Mladić during the Bosnian War. In addition to the Army of Republika Srpska, a paramilitary unit from Serbia known as the "Scorpions" participated in the massacre. The Srebrenica massacre is the largest mass murder in Europe since World War II.[7] In the unanimous ruling "Prosecutor v. Krstic", the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), located in The Hague, ruled that the Srebrenica massacre was an act of genocide, the Presiding Judge Theodor Meron stating: By seeking to eliminate a part of the Bosnian Muslims [Bosniaks], the Bosnian Serb forces committed genocide. They targeted for extinction the forty thousand Bosnian Muslims living in Srebrenica, a group which was emblematic of the Bosnian Muslims in general. They stripped all the male Muslim prisoners, military and civilian, elderly and young, of their personal belongings and identification, and deliberately and methodically killed them solely on the basis of their identity. The Srebrenica massacre was also confirmed as a case of genocide in the ICTY judgement "Prosecutor v. Blagojevic " and in the International Court of Justice judgement "Bosnia and Herzegovina v. Serbia and Montenegro". The United Nations had previously declared Srebrenica a UN protected "safe area", but they did not prevent the massacre, even though 400 armed Dutch peacekeepers were present at the time. The massacre included several instances where preteen children, women, and elderly civilians were also killed. The list of people missing or killed in Srebrenica compiled by the Federal Commission of Missing Persons so far includes 8,373 names.
