Crispin Glover "Clowny Clown Clown" From Atomic TV Volume 6: "Scott's Obsessions": I've had a quite unhealthy obsession with Crispin Hellion Glover ever since I saw him in River's Edge. Rumor has it that after the movie wrapped they had to go back and film an extra scene, the scene where Layne falls asleep at the traffic light, in order for movie-goers to make sense of his odd character. The clincher was when I saw Glover's "I'm strong... I can kick..." David Letterman appearance and from that point on I was a fan for life. When I opened my store, Atomic Books, I contacted Volcanic Eruptions so that Crispin's book "Rat Catching" would be one of the first books I stocked on my shelves. A few years later I was able to see a workprint of his film "What Is It?" in D.C. along with his "Big Slide Show" presentation. Utterly amazing. And as the years have passed Glover has continued to take on quirky roles without cheezing out, even in "Charlie's Angels" he played a weirdo. Perhaps his most mainstream role was in "Where the Heart Is?" but Uma Thurman was in that movie, and she was nekkid, so I gotta still cut him some slack. Crispin Glover has remained my hero for almost 20 years, and when I met him he wasn't a dick, which gives him even more bonus points. A true gentleman. It is Fine! Everthing is Fine. Crispin Glover Trailer... school assignment: create a title sequence/trailer for the Northwest Film Forum's presentation of Crispin Glover's "It is Fine! Everything is Fine." film. Music by Timothy Mendonsa. Filming/editing by Kemeya Harper. Process: I had this crazy idea that filming things melt might be cool for this project, so I bought a pack of synthetic braiding hair, and with a pile of printouts on transparency film, I went to town with my embossing heat gun. The hair melted so wonderfully (and fast) - and it didn't stink at all. The transparencies took a lot more time to start melting, but once I got it going, it rumpled up pretty nice. The drippy goodness at the very end is just watered down acrylic paint. In post-production, I sped up the film by 2-300% and tried to give it a choppy look, to add to the feeling of degradation. If I were to redo it, I might exaggerate the choppiness a bit more. Then, I played around with the color and contrast to get a stark, drastic look. I think it turned out ok! The music really makes it - I worked with Tim, who did an amazing job! All I told him was that I wanted a minimal sound with maybe some strings and inaudible whispering.
