What is graphic design? A lo-fi vox pop made in 2002, that asks people on the streets of Melbourne the basic questions about graphic design. By Studio Pip and Co. and Dogma Productions with Andrew Pegler. This short film was made to gather the general publics view of graphic design for the not-for-profit organisation Australian Graphic Design Association. All permissions were asked and granted from the various respondents. All respondents were thanked after their response. This film is an invaluable learning tool to students of design and was posted on youtube for education and non-profit purposes. The idea, production and responses were supplied gratis. Our thanks again to all involved, especially to all the members of the public who willingly contributed their ideas and opinions on graphic design in the public space. GRAPHIC CONTENT NEW TRAGEDY.... **Motorcyclist dies in Utah speed record attempt** Sep 5, 12:41 am EDT SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AFP) -- A motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his bike at 385 kilometers (239 miles) per hour and crashing on Utah's famous Bonneville Salt Flats, authorities and reports said Thursday. The American Motorcyclist Association said in a statement on its website that 49-year-old Cliff Gullett of Montana was killed in an accident during a time trial at the location, around 185 kilometers (115 miles) west of Salt Lake City. The AMA said Gullett was competing in the 500cc class during a time trial speed racing event when his bike crashed. Reports said Gullett was aiming to set a record for the fastest two-stroke, two-cylinder motorcycle. The Salt Lake Tribune cited police investigators as saying Gullett was travelling at 239 miles per hour before the crash. The Bonneville Salt Flats have been used as a speed testing ground since 1896 and became famous in 1935 when British motorsport legend Malcolm Campbell broke the world land speed record at the site. I would like to add a few things,it was a bitter cold morning in march,I was on vacation and I got up early that morning to capture the sunrise (Digital photography is a big hobby of mine) I had some time before sunrise and started taking pics of the shore, using a long telephoto lense I could see something onshore which looked like a sea animal or something still in the water but on shore enough to be stationary,shortly after someone walking by had flagged down a beach police vehicle and it was reported, I checked the newspaper the following days after that morning,it listed the exact location in the news story and gave the mans age and said that the medical examiner had listed it a suicide,he was not a tourist but a local to the area,they did not release his name-pending contact of nearest next of kin,There is a story behind this suicide that we will never know,just like all the others who take their own life, I hope and pray this video will continue to help people rethink about wanting to take their own life, Is this how you would want your family to remember you...... (June 5)Outrage that a driver fled after hitting a 78-year-old man... And that no one did anything to help the elderly victim as he lied motionless on a city street. Police just released this surveillance video in hopes of generating new leads. It shows Angel Torres walking in the street after buying milk at a local grocery store. Seconds later, he's struck by a dark Honda that was chasing a tan Toyota. Both cars darted down a side street as Torres crumples onto the road. The minute-long video then shows several cars passing Torres as a few people stare from the sidewalk. Some approached the victim but most stayed put until an officer responding to an unrelated call arrives on the scene. The victim remains in critical condition in Hartford Hospital. Authorities say he's paralyzed.
