Ni'lin village - Demonstration against the wall - 29-5-08 Ni'lin's 5rd demonstration The village is mounting a courages and determined fight. The Israeli government has started to implement a plan which if completed will enclose the village of Nilin and its neighboring villages in an enclave. On one side of the enclave will be the currently approved route of the wall and on the other side, an addition to the wall which follows road 446 about 8 km in order to include two additional settlements on the "Israeli" side of the wall. Ni'lin demo against the wall 13-7-08 On July 9th 2008, the villagers of Nil'in demonstrated in commemoration of the 2004 International Court of Justice ruling which stated that the apartheid wall being built by Israel is illegal. During the demonstration, Israeli military forces arrested Nil'in residents, Samer Mustafa Ahmed Nafe, 33, Ahmad Mustafa Ahmed Nafe, 26 and Hassan Yussef Hassan Amira, 36. They are currently being held in Ofer military detention facility. 4000 NIS is needed to cover the cost of their legal representation. The ISM have managed to raise 2500 NIS of this money, but we need donations to cover the final 1500 NIS of the cost. Shahid Yusuf Ahmad Amira's funeral - Ni'lin 4-8-08 Yusuf Ahmad Yunes Amira, 18 years old, was shot by a border police officer last Wednesday in Ni'lin and died of his injuries today. After the end of the funeral procession of Ahmad Mousa, the 10 year old who was murdered the previous day at a demonstration against the wall, border police troops invaded the center of the village shooting rubber coated metal bullets everywhere. A border police officer shot Amira in the head with two bullets from a distance of less than 10 meters while he was in his driveway. Amira was pronounced brain dead when he reached the hospital and died this morning. Yusef Amira is the 13th casualty of the popular struggle against the wall which has also included thousands of injured. This struggle has been met from its beginning with unprecedented repression which keeps escalating every day. The soldiers use lethal means to attack demonstrations of Women Men and children who protest together the theft of their lands. The escalation by the army in Ni'lin is the direct responsibility of Brigadier General Aviv Reshef. All war criminals from policy makers to those who carry it out should be held responsible. Blocking Bulldozers in Ni'lin On Sunday 25 May 2008, local villagers, estimated at well over 100 people, accompanied by international and Israeli observers, representatives of the media and human rights workers converged this morning on the village of Ni'lin, west of Ramallah, to demonstrate at the theft of yet more village land by settlers from two nearby illegal Israeli settlements. They attempted to block the path of two bulldozers which were at work marking the new boundary of the Nili and Nala settlements. When completed the encroaching settlements and expected road closures will totally isolate the Palestinian villages of Ni'lin, Mediya, Shookba, Shabteen and Budrus. Residents will then be forced to exit and enter their villages via one strictly controlled access tunnel, making their lives even more difficult than they are today.
