The Tampon This short film is an excerpt from the "extras" of "Kumbaya on DVD". The Tampon is an examination of man's ability to express raw emotion through non-verbal communication; universal sentiments like fear, sadness or longing which defy language and speak directly to the deepest reaches of the human spirit. In a way "The Tampon" embodies pure cinema, harkening back to a time when silent film stars could make an audience laugh or cry without ever saying a word - replace "laugh or cry" with disgust and you've got our movie! Enjoy. Root Beer This is a video made for the 48/5 film contest put on by the east lansing film festival. It was made by myself (Jeff Pianki), Phil Letten, and Mike Berlucchi. The video contest made some requirements that all entrees had to include. The theme had to be "opposites attract", the prop was a post it note, line of dialogue was "there's no such thing as a free lunch", and it had to have a set of stairs in it. We had so much fun making it, so I hope you enjoy it as well! Tags: Root Beer ELFF 48/5 robot jeff pianki phil letton mike berlucchi lansing film festival funny insane man dharma and greg |

The Root of all that Kills This is a film I directed, shot, wrote, edited, ect. I want to thank everyone for their help and dedication on this project. I couldn't have done it without them. This is more or less a rough cut, but I think the idea is solid, and self-explanitory. As far as I'm concerned, money is just as addicting and as deadly as any drug. DEAD PREZ - The Root of All EVIL DANIEL HASTINGS PHOTOGRAPHY: http://community.sitv.com/user/danielhastings?slideshow=true I directed this video in '98. One day after finishing another music video, I called M-1 and Stix and told them to me at my studio in Brooklyn, that I have a 16mm camera for the day and plenty of film. "What you want to do they ask me?", and at the time my favorite song was "Money is the Root of all Evil", "I want to do this song and I have an idea, Let's make it like you guys are doing an underground message to the poeple" I said, and they were with it. So after they came to my studio and we got creative, I light it up and we started to film. This was trully my only music video that had no constrains of any kind. We did it all on our own and we didn't need money to do it, Since "Money is the Root of all EVIL". Dh Tags: Dead Prez M-1 Stix Hip Hop Music Video Exclusive Rare Never Broadcasted |

Unloosened and Root An intimate film that does nothing less than re-imagine death's rituals for a new generation of the chronically mortal, "Unloosened and Root" expands artist David Dixon's video, performance, and sculpture practice into a film independent of the common conventions of cinema. A "Viking" funeral, Mardi Gras in pre-Katrina New Orleans, a colonoscopy searching for cancer, and a lonely campground that leads to the brink of consciousness: "Unloosened and Root" interweaves two stories--one documentary and one fiction--to tell a singular tale of mourning and loss. Original music composed by Nonesuch recording artist Fernando Otero. Tags: films trailer feature indiepix Independent |

When Love Becomes Death! Death B4 Dishonor! What is the SmokeNProfits short film series? The SmokeNProfits short films are independent and underground films. They are low budget or better yet zero budget. We made these over the years and are producing more now than ever. The earliest ones go back to maybe 1994-1996. The include the genres horror and comedy and drama and experimental and obviosly documentry. The early ones will probably never make the Sundance fim festival let alone win an academy award. But being that nothing is impossible you may one day see us with an oscar trophy. Maybe playing the whole set for the French at Cannes. These films are hardcore in the sense of realism. They are also dreams and dream like in the German expressionist sense. Many scenes are straight from the French New Wave. Hand held camera and all. You'll see the influences of our favorite directors like Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles and Jean Renoir and Stanley Kubrik and Sam Peckinpah. Even Salvador Dali and Andre Bunel. Modern directors such as Martin Scoreses and Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson and even Steven Spielberg himself. We've watched and thought about urban directors like John Singleton and Spike Lee and even Mario Van Peebles (for New Jack City ). Comedy films also are a major inspiration from people Kevin Smith and Broken Lizard and CKY ( Camp Kill Yourself ) which is connected to Jackass and the Wild Boys. Really there is to many to name, but here is a few more greats Ingmar Bergman and the great Werner Herzog. These films will show improv or better yet improvisational acting and freestyle comedy at it's root. The films are rough and ready, take it or leave it, cowboy outlaw wild west stuff. Tune in, Turn on, or Drop out. Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters are a very strong in there influence also and so is Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin and Jackie Chan. So enjoy yourself or feel free to criticize and analyze. The truth only makes us better. Please comment and post responses because we want to be a part of indie film around the whole world. Go ahead and steal our ideas(though if we catch you infringing our copy rights our lawyers will sue your ass to the wall). We take from all film and movie and video and animation and whatever sources we run across(although we always put our original spin on it). We are always a film student.
