Tornado crossing I-57 6-7-08 Clip 2 of the same tornado crossing I-57. Moderate damage was noted and a semi truck and SUV were flipped over. I was actually near mile marker 335, not 355, luckily they knew where I was already talking about. The tornado itself transitions from a classic cone to a multi vortex wedge, at that point the stopped cars dont realize its still on the ground and actually start driving towards it, but clearly you can see separate vorticies reaching the ground within the broader circulation. F5 Tornado in Elie, MB Devastates Part of Town & F3 tornado Here is a video of Canada's first F5 Tornado (upgraded from F4) taken from one mile away that devastated the western part of Elie, Manitoba on Friday June 22nd, 2007...the video ends with a second tornado (F3 Rated) near Oakville. This one was on the ground the same time as the Elie tornado, but I didn't catch it until the Elie one lifted and I was driving towards Elie to see what happened there...I turned around and tried to intercept it, but it got rain-wrapped and fell apart after about 10 minutes. TORNADO PROBE INTERCEPT!!!! Amazing video inside a tornado! TornadoVideos.net storm chasers deploying their HD camera probe inside a tornado in Northern Kansas on May 29, 2008. Two vehicles in the TVN team were nearly hit by the tornado as it crossed over the deployed probe, but reversed to safety at the last possible second. SOT : when it hit, i felt like I was getting shot at, it was just rocks, dirt trees everything. The twister tore through the Little Sioux Scout Ranch in western Iowa late Wednesday. The scouts were in two groups at the time. One group was hiking, the other found shelter SOT: "Zach Jessen, Freemont Nebraska the door blew open, and they were like under the tables, under the tables, and I pulled my friend, and then it just hit the building." One scout was trying to get to a building, but had to dive into a ditch. SOT: it was raining like hard like normal rain, then all the wind got sucked out of my lungs, and I couldn't stand up, so I just laid in the ditch. When the storm passed, he ran to scouts who were down. SOT: I grabbed a first aid kit and ran up to where all the kids were like, not alive .. Dead. 4 boys were killed. 48 others were hurt. Those that weren't jumped in to help, giving critical first aid until help arrived. Tornado Passes Over Camera Probe UPDATED INFO: In June of 2003 Tim Samaras made history by deploying a special probe in the path of an approaching tornado in Manchester, South Dakota. He was within only about 100 yards of the twister when he anchored the probe, called Hardened Insitu Tornado PRobe (HITPR), into the ground. It was a direct hit; the quarter-mile wide tornado passed right over it. The probe itself was rigged with seven cameras and caught the action from all angles. Even TOTO (Totable Tornado Observatory), which weighed 500 pounds, was blown to smithereens when chasers attempted to deploy it in the early 80s...the twister didn't even come close to it and it was STILL destroyed. The Dorothy contraption in the movie "Twister" was based on the same concept as TOTO: place it in the twister's path & cross your fingers; censors would be released into the funnel and record valuable data. TOTO sits in some museum, now. My summary is very basic. If you go to National Geographic's website and type in his name, you can read much more info about him and the probe. Credit: TIM SAMARAS. I want to make it very clear that HE is the one who gets (and deserves) the credit for this footage.
