Southern California Wildfires In October 2007, over a dozen wildfires across Southern California, United States forced the evacuation of thousands of residents. This evacuation comes almost four years to the day after the Cedar Fire of 2003. At least one person has been reported dead. Fires burned in Malibu, Lake Arrowhead, Irvine, San Diego, and many other places. California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles , Orange , Poway , Riverside , San Bernardino , San Diego , Santa Barbara , and Ventura counties as a result. This is the worst case of wildfires Southern California has ever had. Pray for all the people that have lost their homes. Pray these fires die down soon. Wildfires Strain State's ResourcesThe Associated PressA wildfire threatening thousands of homes in Southern California spread slowly through scenic canyonlands Saturday, straining resources as crews struggled to contain hundreds of other blazes around the state. (July 5)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] Wildfires continue to threaten hundreds of homes and drain resources throughout California.A slew of fires..most of which were sparked by lightning...have burned more than 800 square miles of land.Dozens of homes and buildings have been destroyed and 1 firefighter died after having a heart attack while digging fire lines.Governor Schwarzenegger says at this point the state's top priority is protecting Santa Barbara County where a fire burning in the Los Padres National Forest forced the evacuation of more than 26-hundred homes. Investigators say they believe that someone started that fire about 4 days ago. Forest officials are asking the public for their help in figuring out who may have set the blaze and whether it was sparked accidentally or on purpose.Meanwhile, cooler weather is helping crews get a blaze at the northern end of Los Padres under control. ((Greg DeNitto//SOT: We're still at 5% contained. Until we have a secure line, we won't claim it as containment. California Wildfires 07 It was only four years ago, almost to the day that we experienced the Cedar fire, which at that time was one of the biggest fires in California history, after investigation it was proven to be Arson. Every year at this time the weather in Southern California becomes very dry and dangerous for fire. You would think our government agencies would have learned something from it. You would think that in four years... they would have figured out how to be prepared for this, but as you can see, the response has been totally inadequate. The numbers are staggering whether you are talking about money, homes, animals or the environment. It's all devastating. Did this tragidity have to happen? The answer is -- No. The technology to put out these monstrous fires already exists, but "our government" refused to use it in 2003, because it was made in Russia. The Russians designed the Ilyusian IL76 Water-Bomber plane with the capacity to carry 16,000 gallons of water, able to put out a fire the size of 10 football fields lined up end to end, in fifteen seconds. Why did we refuse it then? Did politics and historical animosity get in the way of saving our land, our animals, and our homes? Why was it not called in for this fire? These are questions that the citizens should be asking their Government representatives. This catastrophe has touched people from all classes of society. A large number of the houses lost were of the rich. Our national treasure has been squandered on fighting insane wars that only make the military industrial complex richer and the world less safe. This devastation you see in this video, didn't have to happen. If we can send men to the moon, we can create machines that can effectively put out fires like this. The world is ruled by the rich and now they have been burned. I hope people will get outraged and get on the phone and demand more Water-Bombers I want to see you all get mad as hell at all the responsible parties that have allowed this tragedy to take place! Don't blame this on global warming. Blame it on a government that spends the national treasure on making war not on peace. It is time to go after the criminals that actively did this and the one who passively did this. It is time for a revolution in America! It is time for a total rearranging of our national priorities It is time to stop building bombers, instead we should be building Water-Bombers so we wouldn't have to face the future with this kind of fear again! What do you think? Tags: California wildfires arson Ceder IL76 water bomber terrorism 911 fairytale Global Warming Backwater Potrero ecosystem |

Southern CA residents flee wildfires Hello on this Monday, October 22, 2007. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI Headline Update. Thousands of residents just northeast of San Diego are being ordered to evacuate as wildfires burn across southern California. The fires have been fueled by hot, dry conditions and pushed by strong winds. At least one person is dead and seventeen others are injured. About 1400 firefighters are battling the flames that started yesterday. More than two-dozen structures have been destroyed, including homes, churches and cars. Vice President Dick Cheney says the U.S. will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. Cheney made the comment yesterday during a speech. He added that if Iran pursues that technology, the U.S. and other nations are prepared to impose serious consequences. The vice president didn't mention any military action. Last week, President Bush warned that a nuclear Iran could lead to World War three. Turkey's military has confirmed that eight of its soldiers are still missing after a weekend attack against Kurdish rebels. The incident killed at least 12 Turkish troops, which escalates the possibility that Turkey may launch a military raid into northern Iraq targeting those PKK militants blamed for the attack. Turkey's prime minister has reportedly urged the U.S. to take quote speedy steps towards cracking down on the PKK in Iraq. GOP Presidential hopefuls saved their harshest attacks for Hillary Clinton in last night's Republican debate in Orlando. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination hasn't run a state or city before. Former Governor Mike Huckabee said there's nothing funny about Clinton becoming president. Senator John McCain criticized the former first lady for an amendment to fund a museum commemorating the Woodstock concert. Thanks for watching today's news update.
