Zakk Wylde/ Gunnar/ Matthew Nelson Live I Don't Know This is a rare clip of Gunnar Nelson doing a copy of Matthew Nelson doing a copy of Zakk Wylde doing a copy of "I Dont Know" by Ozzy. Paul Stanley of Kiss is doing a rare bass appearence before their makeup was removed resulting in no one realizing it was him,and Paul Geary of Extreme is on drums... Peforming at a house party in Laurence Harbor New Jersey in early 1982 in front of a stack of amps stolen from the band "The Watch" in Asbury Park the night before.Only half the amps appear because half were sold to an up and coming band called "Silent Rage" who were appearing at the "The Airport Plaza Roller Rink" that same day, opening for another up and coming band called Sacrafice to replace their stack stolen by "The Watch"..it's a vicious circle. Rage didn't go too far, but i hear the bass player just did a gig on the WHAM reunion tour. Great close-ups of Mathew Nelson's solo before the song, and Paul really being itchy before the song starts.. We believe this video could be the pre cursor for the Playstation game "Guitar Hero" but this is debatable. Rare find, so enjoy! OZZY osbourne ZAKK wylde - Purple Haze(cover) Purple Haze is a song recorded in 1967 by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released as a single in both the United Kingdom and the United States. It also appeared on the US release of their 1967 album Are You Experienced?. Purple Haze is often cited as one of Jimi Hendrix's greatest songs, and first international hit. For many, it is his signature work. Purple Haze became Hendrix' second single after his manager Chas Chandler heard him playing the riff backstage and quickly arranged for him to record and release the song. The single peaked at number three in the UK but only number 65 in the US, where it was released in June 1967, a month after "Are You Experienced?" and three months after the UK single. In March 2005, Q magazine ranked "Purple Haze" at number one in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. The Rolling Stone magazine placed the song at No. 17 in their "500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The song is believed to refer to Hendrix's experiences with a similarly-named batch of LSD produced injello 1966 by Owsley Stanley. (In a 1967 BBC session, Hendrix recorded a cover version of the Beatles' "Day Tripper" in which he shouts, "Oh, Owsley, can you hear me now?" during the climactic guitar solo.) Others believed that the song's name was derived from a strain of marijuana, called "purple haze." However, in interviews Hendrix would disclaim any association with recreational drug use, asserting that the song was drawn from a dream he had where he was walking under the ocean, surrounded by a purple haze. At another point, Hendrix said he took the phrase "purple haze" from Night of Light, a science fiction novel written by Philip José Farmer that he was reading at the time. (However, the phrase appearing in Farmer's book is "purplish haze" [1].) Hendrix claimed that the song was about love, explaining that the line "whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me" was the key to the meaning of lyrics. The song is distinctive for the flattened fifth interval which appears in the intro. The guitar plays Bb octaves while the bass plays E octaves. Such dissonance was unusual in popular music of the time. Dubbed guitar track played through octavia, a gadget that transfers notes one octave higher, can be heard during the outro. (The song's lyric 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky has been widely misheard as 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy. However, in some live performances, as a joke, Hendrix clearly and unmistakably sang 'Scuse me, while I kiss that guy. One of these appears on the album Voodoo Child : The Jimi Hendrix Collection [Disc 2]. and the box set The Jimi Hendrix Experience. "Purple Haze" has been covered by a variety of other artists, from Ozzy Osbourne to the Kronos Quartet to Québécoise artist Carole Laure, and has also been featured in many films, television shows, and commercials. Some of the more notable and/or unusual appropriations of the song over the years Zakk Wylde (born Jeffrey Phillip Wiedlandt on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne, New Jersey) is a lead guitarist, pianist, singer and songwriter, best known for his role as founder of Black Label Society and guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Wylde was lead guitarist and vocalist in Pride & Glory, who released one self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding. As a solo artist he released the critically acclaimed Book of Shadows in 1996. Wylde's playing is characterised by his liberal use of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic scale. Ozzy Osbourne (born John Michael Osbourne, December 3, 1948 in Aston, Birmingham, England) is the lead vocalist of the pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath and the star of the reality show, The Osbournes. In addition to lead vocals with Black Sabbath, Osbourne also plays the harmonica and synthesizer. As a solo artist, Osbourne has sold over 27 million albums in the US, and 50 million worldwide.[citation needed] Two of his albums, Blizzard of Ozz (1980) and No More Tears (1991), are certified quadruple-platinum, for sales of over 4 million copies in the US. Dimebag Darrell vs. Zakk Wylde Dimebag Darrell (born Darrell Lance Abbott on August 20, 1966 -- December 8, 2004),also known as Diamond Darrell until mid 1992, was the lead guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel. Pantera was formed in 1981 with Dimebag's brother Vinnie Paul on drums. The band officially split in 2003 due to conflicts between members. Phil Anselmo, in the throes of a heroin addiction, started lashing out at other members. Anselmo left the band for other projects, such as Superjoint Ritual and Down. After 2 years, brothers Vinnie and Dimebag eventually moved on and went on to form Damageplan. [edit] Other projects Shortly before singer Phil Anselmo joined Pantera, Darrell was invited to join the pre-Rust in Peace Megadeth by Dave Mustaine. According to both Darrell and Mustaine's telling, Darrell was willing to join, but insisted on Mustaine also hiring his brother Vinnie. When Mustaine found out that Vinnie was a drummer and replied that he had already hired Nick Menza, Darrell turned down his offer and stayed with Pantera. On and off between 1996 and the formation of Damageplan, the Abbott brothers and Pantera Bassist Rex Brown teamed up with country singer David Allan Coe for a project called Rebel Meets Rebel. Vinnie's favorite recorded Dime solo is on this album, part of the track "Get Out Of My Life". The album was released May 2, 2006 on Vinnie's "Big Vin Records" label. Dimebag played guest guitar solos on several Anthrax songs from their John Bush era: "King Size" & "Riding Shotgun" from Stomp 442, "Inside Out" & "Born Again Idiot" from Volume 8: The Threat Is Real, "Strap It On" and "Cadillac Rock Box" (with a voice intro from Dime as well) from We've Come for You All. In a recent interview Anthrax bassist Frank Bello said "Darrell was basically the sixth member of Anthrax". Dimebag also performed a solo on the titular track from King Diamond's Voodoo album. Additionally a sample of a Dime guitar solo has been put in the Nickelback song "Side of a Bullet". Shortly before Dime's death, he went into the studio with a band named Premenishen to do a guest solo on a track titled "Eyes of the South" [which coincidentally is the title of one of the songs featured on the debut album by Anselmo's project Down]. The band consists of two of Dime's cousins (bassist Heather Manly and guitarist April Adkisson). There was speculation that Dimebag and close friend Zakk Wylde would collaborate with Kerry King; however, nothing was confirmed. He was also confirmed as one of the original guitar player choices for Liquid Tension Experiment by Mike Portnoy.[1] Dimebag's musical roots were in Country Western music; he supported the local music scene in Dallas and would sometimes record with local musicians. On December 2, 2006 a very rare track of one of his collaborations was discovered. Dimebag sat in on a recording session with local Dallas musician "Throbbin Donnie" Rodd and recorded "Country Western Transvestite Whore". It features Dime on lead guitar and lead vocals. Dimebag and his Brother Vinnie-Paul along with Rex (during the Pantera Era) and Bobzilla (Damageplan Era) performed at their newyears party every year under the name "Gasoline". Dime, Vinnie and Rex also recorded a cover of the ZZTop song "Heard it on the X" under the band name "Tres Diablos" for ECW wrestling's "Extreme Music" soundtrack. Wylde's playing is characterised by his liberal use of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic scale. Wylde started playing the guitar at the age of 15 and worked at Silverton Music in Silverton, New Jersey. He grew up in Jackson and went to Jackson Memorial High School where he graduated from in 1985. Zakk has stated that he would practice playing the guitar as much as 12 hours per day and often would play the guitar almost non-stop between coming home from school and leaving for school the next morning, then sleeping through the school day. Growing up Wylde played locally with his first band, "Stone Henge", then later with local Jersey band "Zyris". Years later, the 20 year-old Wylde landed the coveted role as lead guitarist and co-writer for Ozzy Osbourne. He sent Ozzy a demo tape in 1987 and was hired to replace Jake E.
