Minor Car Fire at New Wilke & White Oak in Arlington Heights SEP 19 2008 -- Video shows Arlington Heights Fire Department Engine 3 and Tower 1 responding to a disabled car in the intersection of New Wilke and White Oak with a small fire in the engine compartment. Tower One responded most likely because Engine 3 was not expected to be available for a primary response in its district. However, Engine 3 did arrive on scene first. Both Tower 1 and Engine 3 effectively blocked traffic from fireground activities in the intersection. Police were called to help with traffic management. Fire call only involves light smoke and suppression with one handline from Engine 3. Good work preventing a complete fire and destruction of the car. The 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk Chicago Arlington Heights 2008 SATURDAY AUG 09 2008 -- Camping at Oakton Community College -- Des Plaines, thousands of participants traveled through Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights and back to Oakton for Day 2 of the 3-Day for breast cancer. One of three segments for the 20 out of 60 miles traveled over three days. The video shows a few highlights of the event with lots of fun from participants, crew members and volunteers. Well-wishers lined the streets applauding walkers and other-abled participants, as this was one of the first all-ability events. That meant that wheelchairs were among those traveling the 20 miles round trip. The participants camped out for lunch at Olive School in Arlington Heights, stretching and relaxing in Greens Park before the return trip to Oakton Community College in Des Plaines. Superior Ambulance provided medical support with several pink ambulances and a roving 'Motivation Medic' van with dancing paramedics, disco music and a bubble machine. See also ... Arrest After Indecent Exposure, One Cop Injured Several Arlington Heights neighbors in the 600 and 700 block of North Douglas reported a man running south on Douglas Avenue totally naked just before 2 p.m. Thursday. Apparently after going for a jog in the buff -- with reportedly good running form -- he returned to his home in the 600 block of North Douglas. Arlington Heights Police responded to neighbors reports and some type of struggle resulted in one injured Arlington Heights Police officer and one offender transported to the hospital. Video shows police backup response after the struggle and the suspect wheeled on a stretcher to the ambulance. Both the police officer and the suspect were transported to Northwest Community hospital in separate ambulances.
