Re-Enactment: Atonement (as seen on Jimmy Kimmel) This is the second of five reenactments I did for Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this year. It was part of a challenge to reenact a scene from every Best Picture nominee for this year's Academy Awards. This version has an extra 30 seconds of footage that wasn't shown on TV due to time constraints. Fun fact: I hated this movie. Tags: reenactment atonement brandon hardesty jimmy kimmel |

Jonathan Wesley Bridges and His Little Room - Episode III The third episode in my JWB series. I made this half a year ago, but never edited it. I was afraid of it being sub-par, and I remember when I uploaded the trailer a week or two ago, you guys provided some honest feedback for me. The general consensus was good, but a few of you thought it wasn't up to snuff, which I can understand. Don't worry, though. I have some good ideas for a 4th episode. Re-Enactment: 12 Angry Men The 27th of my Reenactment Series. I just watched this movie recently, and remembered how much I loved it. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. 12 Angry Men, directed in 1957 by Sidney Lumet, is about 12 jurors who must decide the fate of the defendant. 98% of the movie takes place within the jury room. It's a hot day, and they all want to get out of there, so 11 of them vote guilty. One man says "not guilty," and the rest of the movie consists of him convincing the rest of the jurors that there is too much reasonable doubt to convict the defendant. The scene I did was the very end, where there's one guy left who thinks he's guilty. Played magnificently by Lee J. Cobb, I thought this scene was amazing the first time I saw it. It's a portrayal of great acting, and although I didn't make it very complicated (i.e. didn't play anyone else, etc.), this video was a lot of fun to do. More videos on the way. Stay tuned. I'm in a Movie!? ANSWERS TO THE 3 QUESTIONS CAN BE FOUND HERE: 1. My character plays the drums in the film. 2. I'm going to Florida. 3. If I meet William H. Re-Enactment Request #1: Pulp Fiction The 26th of my Reenactment Series. Here it is. Finally. I didn't get it in before Monday... hence, I didn't leap. Looks like I'm stuck here... dammit. (Quantum Leap references out of the way...) I KNEW some of you guys would be disappointed. It's such a great scene, and you've been waiting a long time for it. I'm hearing the same complaints: Bangs were distracting, didn't like the hair, too comical and not serious. 1. I put the "Bangs" in because I thought they were hilarious. I giggled to myself in the glow of my laptop for 5 minutes making that "Bang" montage in the end. 2. I like how you guys think the beard was distracting, and yet the floral quilt hanging in the background, the continuity errors, and even the accidental inclusion of my laptop in one of the takes weren't distracting at all. Again, I just thought the beard was funny. 3. I could never pull off Samuel L. Jackson. He's too badass, especially in this scene. When I can't get someone's mannerisms, I go for a comic portrayal to redeem myself. Sometimes it works and you guys never notice. Other times... All in all, I was sort of happy with this. It may not be a milestone for what probably will be my last reenactment, but I didn't expect it to. It's hard to say whether or not I'll do anymore reenactments. I want to move on... there are a lot of things happening in the next few months for me, and I have to concentrate on them. That isn't to say I won't be uploading any more videos, but they may be few and far between from now on. I'm still here. I just don't know for how long... Re-Enactment Request #2: Reservoir Dogs WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE. The 25th of my Reenactment Series. Holy clusterf$#&, you guys must have picked the hardest, longest scene in any movie, with the most characters. This is a personal record: 8 characters, about 8 minutes of dialogue, totalling up to 9 minutes and 30 seconds... this is the biggest one yet... I hope I lived up to your expectations. Also, this is where I put my Steve Buscemi impersonation to the test... I think it's getting better, but I need to exaggerate it more... make it higher and more nasally. To those film students who worship the ground Quentin Tarantino walks on, this scene, let alone this movie, needs no introduction. In this scene from Reservoir Dogs, eight crooks, hours before a big diamond heist, sit around a table in a diner and bullshit about the important stuff: tipping, Madonna, and K-Billy's Supersounds of the 70s Weekend. I should have known the top two requests would be Tarantino, the master of dialogue that can be incredibly cool while simultaneously be about nothing at all. This scene is a good example. Pulp Fiction is last... I'm thinking it may actually BE the last. After Pulp Fiction, there's a good chance I'll never do another reenactment again... so, I'll make it a good one. Re-Enactment: Pan's Labyrinth The 24th of my Reenactment Series. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about Reservoir Dogs. I just thought this was too good not to do. Very short, but sweet. I don't speak Spanish, btw. It took a million times going over the Spanish subtitles in this video to get it right. In this scene from Pan's Labyrinth, a young girl has been given three tasks to do by a mysterious faun. During the second task, she broke one of the rules, and the faun gets pissed. I can't really explain the plot very well, you have to see this. I figured most of you have since this is pretty much the most mainstream foreign film. It won three Academy Awards... it deserves them too. Tags: brandon hardesty artietsmitw reenactment pan's labyrinth laberinto fauno spanish mexico foreign film |

Re-Enactment Request #3: Full Metal Jacket WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE The 23rd of my Re-Enactment Series. A few things: 1. No, I did not lip sync, I simply added reverb to the dialogue. The audio is a bit off thanks to the video being compressed onto Youtube. I wouldn't go Milli Vanilli on you. 2. Yes, I know I failed to put in the "Sir-yes-sirs" in the beginning, simply because I didn't feel like waiting an extra hour to re-do that an export it for a fifth time. Use your imagination. In this scene from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, new recruits for Vietnam are being lectured on their first day by Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, played by former real-life drill instructor R. Lee Ermey. It's kind of a shame... the first 45 minutes of this film is amazing. The scenes that actually take place in Vietnam kind of drag. Still, Kubrick was awesome. Good choice, guys. This is an awesome scene... ugh. The Reservoir Dogs one is even longer... you guys are making me work. Tags: full metal jacket artietsmitw brandon hardesty reenactment lee ermey vietnam |
