The band was named after the moniker of their lead singer, Jim Leedy. The band was active in the late Eighties, early Nineties, and has recently reformed (2005). It consists of singer Jim Leedy (a.k.a. "Elvis Hitler"), guitarist John Defever, bassist Warren Defever, and drummer Damian Lang. Their irreverent mix of rockabilly and lowbrow humor led to them having a cult following in their day, though they never had commercial success. The band managed to put out three CDs on Restless Records. They then disappeared from the public spotlight for the first time. Warren Defever would go on to front the dramatically-different sounding His Name Is Alive, and work as a record producer for underground bands. In 1998, however, Elvis Hitler reunited as a four piece band, with Rich Strock filling in on bass, and played at various locations in Detroit and in Chicago. They then faded away again. They once more reunited in 2003 at The Magic Stick club in Detroit with Warren Defever returning to the bass. They played one more concert at that club on September 4th, 2004. Their minor "hit" song "Green Haze" consisted of the lyrics from the successful TV-show Green Acres sung to the tune of Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze." Due to the resistance of having a band with the name Hitler in the title, regardless of its intent, the band released one album under the name "Splatter." Its 18-year-old members are all on the verge of entering mandatory military service, or opting out of the service with possible lifelong consequences. They sing songs in both English and Hebrew which protest everything from Israeli governmental policies to the dangers of consumerism. Nikmat Olalim ("Toddler's Revenge") is the name of an extremist Jewish organization that set a pipe bomb in an elementary school in Zur Baher, a village in East Jerusalem. This subject doesn't receive much attention in the Israeli public, even though when there are terrorist attacks against Jews you would hear about them for weeks, and the intention is to show ourselves and the world that the Jews are the victims and we're under constant threat. Obviously, bringing up the existence of Jewish terrorism against Arabs damages this image. When this issue is being raised, the Jewish terrorists are presented as crazy extremists, outside the Israeli mainstream. Few make the connection between this illegal act, to the much worse actions carried out by the Israeli Army which are considered legal (at least according to Israeli law), and receive practically full support by the Israeli public. The organization Nikmat Olalim injured 10 schoolchildren and a teacher in Zur Baher. In the past three years, around 20 Palestinians were injured on daily average by the Israeli security forces, and more than 2 were killed every day. Jewish terrorism is not some extremist or singular event, terror is an inseparable part of Israeli society, and it is carried out daily. Summer of Sam (Ruby meets Richie) The part where Ruby meets Richie again. - Summer of Sam is the story of a group of people in New York City (particularly the Throgs Neck/Country Club section of The Bronx) in the summer of 1977, a time in which the headlines were dominated by the Son of Sam serial killer case. While the Son of Sam is terrorizing New York City, fear-driven residents of a tight-knit Italian American neighborhood begin to suspect anyone who doesn't fit in with the crowd. The movie focuses on a pair of young couples. John Leguizamo plays Vincent, an unfaithful hairdresser married to Dionna (played by Mira Sorvino), a hard-working waitress. Kinsey - Trailer (2004) Let's talk about sex. ________________________ Life story of Alfred Kinsey, a man driven to uncover the most private secrets of the nation, and a journey into the mystery of human behavior. In 1948 Kinsey irrevocably changed American culture and created a media sensation with his book "Sexual Behavior in the Human Male". Using the technique of his own famous sex interviews, story recounts the scientist's extraordinary journey from obscurity to global fame. Rebelling against the rigid piety of his home life, and drawn to the world of the senses, Kinsey becomes a Harvard-educated zoologist specializing in the study of gall wasps. After being hired to teach biology at Indiana University, Kinsey meets and marries a witty, freethinking female student, Clara McMillen. In the course of his teaching he discovers an astonishing dearth of scientific data on sexual behavior. When students seek him out for advice about sexual concerns and problems, he realizes that no one has done the clinical research that would yield reliable answers to their questions. Inspired to explore the emotionally charged subject of sex from a strictly scientific point of view, Kinsey recruits a team of researchers, including Clyde Martin, Wardell Pomeroy and Paul Gebhard. Over time they refine an interviewing technique, which helps people to break through shame, fear, and guilt and speak freely about their sexual histories. When Kinsey publishes his Male study in 1948, the press compares the impact to that of the atom bomb. But as the country enters the more paranoid Cold War era of the 1950s, Kinsey's follow-up study on women is seen as an attack on basic American values. The ensuing outrage and scorn causes Kinsey's benefactors to abandon him, just as his health begins to deteriorate. At the same time, the jealousies and acrimony caused by Kinsey's attempt to create a private sexual utopia threaten to tear apart the research team and expose them to unwelcome scrutiny. Written by Sujit R. Varma Kinsey is a biologist and a sex researcher. He releases reports about sexual behavior of American people in 1948 and 1953. He interviews 18,000 people to take sex histories. It is sensational and controversial because it is taboo to talk about sex. And people have little knowledge of it. No knowledge makes them worry and feel guilty. Actually, he and his wife lose their virginity after their marriage, but it is unsuccessful. From the bad experience, and as he consults with his students to give them advice about sexual problems, he gets interested in revealing people's sexual behavior. He devotes his life to sex research. His academic curiosity is amazing. He supports "diversity" and "individualism". He claims there are common and rare sexual behaviors, but we shouldn't categorize it into the two groups, normal and abnormal. He influences a lot of people. Especially, he encourages and saves homosexual people. In short, Kinsey is an influential figure who is fascinated with sex research and contributes to the society.
