Custom Song Rick Roll - Guitar Hero 3 (Xbox 360) This is a custom song that was successfully imported into the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III. Not the PC version, the Wii version, the PS2 version or the PS3 version. The Xbox 360 version! This proves it is possible to import custom songs into Guitar Hero 3 for the Xbox 360. It is already possible and easy to import into the other versions (Excluding PS3, but who even has one of those?). This chart does not follow a specific instrument and follows the voice for most of the song, which I figured would be more fun to play. There are some notable glitches in the import. There is a noticible drop in the Rock Meter at the end of the song, which is the result of "invisible" notes that don't count for points but still count as a miss. Also due to sync issues with the importing of an XMA file, the sound becomes badly desyncronized if the game was paused (which convieniently didn't happen in the video *Whew*). The other glitches were pretty obvious, like the menu screen still saying Slow Ride, and preview song remaining unchanged. And because there is no chart for the other difficulties, the original Slow Ride notes remain but are about 300x normal speed (good luck FCing that... Seriously, I'd love to see a video..). FAQ ------- Q: Why did you play this and not just make the bot play it? A: Because the bot went off to college and now doesn't call. That bastard. Q: Why did you pick that song? A: Why not? :P Q: Is this just an elaborate attempt to Rick Roll people? A: I don't know, did it work? Usually Rick Roll attempts admit it afterwords. They don't try to keep up the joke and insist the video was the Halo 4 Announcement Trailer after you've already watched it. Q: Can you write a tutorial for importing custom songs? A: That's not likely to happen, as that would require me getting of my lazy ass and writing one (see last video to find out what happens when I need to get off my lazy ass to do something). Q: THIS CHART ALSO SUCKS!!11!!11! A: Again, not the point of the video. The chart doesn't match a real instrument for most of the song anyway, but it's still fun to play. Q: Why did you modify Rick Roll? A: The original Never Gonna Give You Up has a fade-out ending, which doesn't really work in Guitar Hero. Seriously, Microsoft can detect this mod and will (and should) ban you if you use it online. Also, it offers no cheating advantage and just ruins the experience for everyone else. GH3 - Through the Fire and Flames (Expert) - 100% (Bot) A bot getting 100% (FC) on Through the Fire and Flames with a final score of 983,802. So there the FC everyone's been looking for. The star power path may not have been perfect but it was at the very least decent. As you can see the bot is also able to use the whammy bar to help maximize it's score. For those that don't know, a bot (short for robot) is a device/program that will automatically play Guitar Hero based on how it was programmed. This bot was made by modifying an Xbox 360 controller and wiring it up to a microcontroller. FAQs: Q: How long did it take to build this and get it working? A: I had something functional (see last video) in around 1 week. To get this fully working, it took around 2 months of working on it on and off. Q: What system is this for? A: This is for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 3 (although untested, it will most likely work for GH1 and GH2 also) Q: Do you play on Xbox Live? A: I have an Xbox Live account however I have NO plans on taking this bot on there just for the sake of cheating the high scores. Q: Why would you build this to cheat? A: The challenge of this project was making a Guitar Hero playing robot, which I assure you was anything but easy. GH3 - Through The Fire And Flames (Expert) - 99% (Bot) Through The Fire and Flames on Expert with a final score of 849151. Yes, it is a bot. And no, those mistakes were not to be convincing, it actually made those mistakes (it makes an average of 15 during TTFAF, other songs are almost always 100%) It is (currently) unable to use the whammy bar, and it also uses star power at the first red or yellow note after it gets it. The fact that it uses star power at all was due to laziness when tracing the board. Yes, I know people have beat this score without a bot. This isn't the bot's highest score, which at this point is around 900k. I am waiting to post a video until I get a few other features working (logical use of star power, and wammy bar).
