Motorola Z10 - create movies from photo's The Motorola Z10 is a very slick device offering a myriad of capabilities for the user. The form factor has got to be the best I have ever used and coupled with the UIQ experience, it has been a joy to use. One feature with this phone is the ability to create videos on the phone from photos and videos. This mini-movie is a photo slide show that was created on the Motorola Z10. An Evening with S60 Nokia sponsored "An Evening With S60" in Boston last night where quite a few folks got together to enjoy some drinks, appetizers and a few S60 devices like the Nokia N96, N78, and 6110 Navigator as well as the LG LK610 and the Samsung i450 and G810. It was a fun evening so I thought I'd share a few pics I took as I walked through the streets of Boston on my way to "The Living Room" where the event was held. The S60 Platform is a software platform for mobile phones that uses Symbian OS. S60 is developed primarily by Nokia and licensed by them to other manufacturers including Lenovo, LG Electronics, Panasonic and Samsung. CES 2008 - iMate Ultimate Series While at CES 2008 I had the unique opportunity to meet up with Dale Coffing while visiting the Microsoft booth. Dale was kind enough to share with us some of the Ultimate series devices that iMate has (two that were not being displayed at the show). iPhone's hazardous chemicals Environmental protection group Greenpeace reports that tests it performed on the Apple iPhone showed a variety of hazardous chemicals in both the internal and external components. After conducting independent tests on 18 internal and external iPhone components, Greenpeace scientists say they have confirmed the presence of toxic brominated compounds in the phone's antenna. The tests also indicate a mixture of toxic phthalates was found on the plastic coating of the headphone cables, and the device's battery is glued and soldered in the handset. Scientists say this practice, gluing and soldering, makes it harder to replace the battery and more difficult to separate the iPhone's components for recycling purposes. Environmentalists report that without undergoing the necessary steps, recycling these electrical gadgets is jeopardizing both the environment and the health of those responsible for properly disposing of these products.
