Music Channel Charts (MCC) - Classic Episode - Part 6 of 6 For those Pakistanis, who were studying in schools, colleges or universities back in the 90s, there is 1 great reason to remember that decade: MUSIC CHANNEL CHARTS (MCC) MCC was great. No wait, not just great, it was the greatest. Right now, we have more than dozen music channels that broadcast music 24/7 but their was a time when you have to wait entire week to watch just an hour long music program. That program was MCC. Produced by Ghazanfar Ali (who now owns the Indus TV Network), MCC was Pakistan's most famous chart based music program. Every week top 10 music videos from different artists & bands were played with new entry every week. MCC made Najam Shiraz, Junoon, Ali Haider, Sequencers, Fringe Benefits, Yatagaan, Arid Zone, Milestones, Nadeem Jafri, Saleem Javed, Aamir Saleem, Jazba, Collage, Bunny, Aamir Zaki, Strings, Hasan Jahangir, Khalid Anum & so many others a house hold name. People still remember MCC because it was new, a breath of fresh air, in a time when we have no idea what MTV was up to. MCC was simply Out of This World. Remember there was not MTV or Channel[V] at that time in Pakistan. The videos were awsome, lyrics were classy, bands & singers became hit. We watch MCC every week regularly as if it was prescribed by our doctor. MCC mostly showed music videos of amateur artists & bands who created one hit wonders. They enter the show through New Entry section, stayed on charts for couple of weeks & then bye bye. But not all of them ended up like this. Artists like Ali Haider, Nadeem Jafri, Fakhr-e-Alam, Saleem Javed, Amir Zaki, Strings, Junoon, Amir Saleem, Bunny, Yasir Akhtar, Hasan Jahangir, Khalid Anum & many more are still famous. MCC was hosted by Fakhr-e-Alam & in this episode, he tries to convince a boy's father to watch MCC. I have only got this 1 episode (6 parts), so plz don't ask for more. I hope some1 else shows up with more episodes & share them with us. Tags: music channel charts mcc karachi pakistan 90s show tv junoon strings vital signs ali haider azmat salman |

42 Golden Years of PTV - Part 7 of 7 Pakistan Television (PTV) entertained millions of viewers in Pakistan all alone from 1964 to 1990. It was PTV who created classic dramas, shows, music & much much more. PTV change the shape of entertainment in Pakistan forever. PTV dramas literally emptied the roads of Pakistan. From historical to classic, from fictional to non-fictional, from serious to comedy, PTV dramas still reminds us that this is a real drama. Although in this age of cable & satellite channels when we have more than 100 channels on our TV who are transmitting 24/7, there was a time when entire Pakistan would switch on its TV from 8pm to 9pm to watch a PTV drama. We still remember those characters that made us laugh, cry & ran a chill in our spine. Those characters became our family members & they entertained us very well. On November 26th 1964, Pakistan Television (PTV) started its transmission in Pakistan & still growing stronger. Regardless of being a government department, PTV produced the best work in country that is unmatched by any other government department. On November 26th 2006, as PTV turned 40 years old, a show was telecast about PTV's history. It was written by Anwar Maqsood & hosted by Moin Akhtar. In this show, some rare seen footage was telecast about PTV & classic Black & White clips from 60s to the late 90s. In this 7th part, you can see as country's power shifted from Mian Nawaz Sharif to Benazir Bhutto in 1993 & then again in 1997 from Benazir Bhutto to Mian Nawaz Sharif, what policies were maintained keeping in mind the previous government. This is the last part of this program which ends on a great patriotic song "Khayaal Rakhna" which was sung by Alamgeer & Benjamin Sisters in the 80s.
