Bolshoi Yuri Vladimirov Nina Sorokina Russian Folk Dance Ballet I assume that this dance is circa 1970, but that is only a guess. During the time that the Soviet Union and the USA were competing against each other to be the first one to land on the moon, the Bolshoi Ballet had their own astronaut (cosmonaut) in the high flying Yuri Vladimirov with his equally spectacular ballerina wife, Nina Sorokina . I have no idea what the name of this dance is, but it definitely is some type of Russian folk dance ballet. She would retire the next year , 1973. In the 1980s, she worked with Altynai Asylmuratova and continued with Yulia Makhalina and then in the 1990s with Svetlana Zakharova . Therefore, Moiseyeva has coached four very important Kirov ballerinas since her retirement. The other ballerina is Ludmila Kovaleva , who plays the Queen of the Dryads . After her retirement, she decided to become a teacher at the Vaganova Ballet Academy . After Natalia Dudinskaya stopped teaching about 10 years ago and Inna Zubkhovskaya died a few years ago, Kovaleva became the top teacher at the school and is recognized as the top teacher at the Vaganova Academy today.
