This beautiful hymn is a Netherlands Folk Hymn ( Nederlandtsch Gedenckelanck ), often sung during the Thanksgiving season but I used to like to play it a few times throughout the year. I use the Chimes on the 2nd Verse, a nice Full Registration ( Swell to Great ) on the 3rd and a Key Elevation on the last Verse. We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; He chastens and hastens His will to make known; The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing, Sing praises to His name: He forgets not his own. I'll Fly Away I'll Fly Away. In this arrangement, I am playing slower than you usually hear it played. This is the tempo I performed it when it was requested at a Funeral Service as they escorted the Flag Covered Casket out of the Church for a Serviceman, there wasn't a dry eye in the Church, it was very moving and so many asked me afterwards about the Hymn and said they never heard it played with so much Reverance and Dignity before. The Hymn is very nice for a Funeral as the words are so appropriate. I might do another arrangement playing with more Vigor but I kind of like this tempo :-) Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away; To a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away (I'll fly away). LYNGHAM - Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Sing Oh For A Thousand Tongues to Sing - Hymn Tune: Lyngham. This British Hymn Tune is not heard often and is not in many Hymnals, but it should be, a great hymn. I found it as a MIDI File and printed it out using MIDI Notate so all the notes may not be there like the Hymn version.
