Clean up that fuzz!! Analog.man Sun Face NKT 275 this one's a quicky i did to show people how i use the Analog.man Sun Face with NKT 275 transistors as a booster. i'm using my old Strat an a '60s Deluxe Reverb. sounded fine when i was playing, but unfortunately the combination of high ceiling, cheap camcorder and amp reverb (even at 2!!) does not always work... proof that too much reverb can kill your tone... or you!! ;) ... oh yeah, if you want to use your Sun Face as a boost, just turn the internal trim pot for all the way clockwise, and everything full up!! well you can ease up on the bias a bit... Vintage '67 Marshall Supa Fuzz here's one from the first batch made by Sola Sound for Jim Marshall . it's pretty much a Tone Bender MKII, and was Pete Townshend's favorite in the early days of the Who. also called Model 1975, early "stenciled" examples are harder to find than the latter "raised lettering" models, sound amazing, and as you can see from the clip, clean up well with your guitar volume. for the clip, i used my Les Paul R8 through an old 50w Marshall (set clean with the volume just a bit under 2) with a JCM800 1936 cab. Lovepedal Karl Fuzz hand wired 2 knobs version. Here's a short clip i did to show you how bluesy this little fuzz can be. please don't pay attention to my sloppy noodling, but listen how fat and tight it is (with just a slight hint of upper octave), and how it can clean up well when turning the guitar's volume down. perfect for Billy Gibbons type riffing or Eric Clapton soloing!! Sean Michael from Lovepedal said to me that this is favorite fuzz that nobody GETS!! i wonder why, it's such a great fuzz. on that clip i'm using a Strat through the Karl, then to blackface Deluxe Reverb set clean (volume at about 2) nothing else. the grand Octafuzz workout!! Strangeness comes in small packages... the fulltone octafuzz, clone of the Octavia (or Octavio) is a cool little effect, but a bit unruly. so to smooth it out, i use my Comprossor after it, dime the Octafuzz's volume and the boost is at minimum setting. that way you can play pretty much all over the neck with it, play little diads without the effect going too crazy.
