Jesus Christ Is there a need to introduce Christ to a believer in Christ? Or is it necessary to introduce Christ to a non-believer? He who has ears will hear, and has already heard. There is only one interpretation of Christ that a believer in Christ knows or cares to know. And that is the interpretation that unmistakably emerges from the Bible. Every other interpretation and reconstruction is irrelevant to the believer. There is no divine figure that has been more discussed and debated than that of Christ. There is increasingly a strong tendency to emphasize the humanness of Christ with the intention of reducing or even removing his divinity. Such efforts are not born of faith, and have no impact on those who walk by faith. So this is faith, and it is built on the hope that the Bible is indeed the incontrovertible word of God, and that its presentation of Christ is indeed the spiritual truth concerning him. Let Not The Eyes Of Your Father Moisten With Tears - S G G Not every father commands the love and the respect of his son. My relationship with my own father was troubled. Only a few weeks before his death I asked his forgiveness for many years of insensitive behaviour. I thank God for this opportunity, as I had no idea at that time that I would soon be fatherless. The message of the importance of a father's blessing came to me first from a student of mine. Shocked by my coldness to my own father, he told me in no uncertain terms that a son who failed to honour his father could never succeed in life. I did not realise the truth of his words until I read the Bible a few years later, and noted the importance accorded to the father's blessing in the episode of Isaac and his son Jacob. The cruelty of the son to his father is an idea that has stayed with me, not only because of my own experience with my father, but also because of the troubled relationship between the Divine Father and His children on earth. Let not the eyes of your Father moisten with tears, Let not his heart ache for your love. Belittle not his acts of love, Trouble not his gentle spirit. Deprive him not of the pleasure of your company And the joy of your smile. Your life is his gift. All that you are cannot be without him. On Rejecting God - Samuel Godfrey George Samuel Godfrey George on rejecting God: We live in an imperfect world. We are imperfect ourselves in that we are a flawed creation of God. Yet we were once perfect, and allowed that perfection to be corrupted by an act of disobedience that brought us under the curse of God. The curse may be revoked only by the intervention of the Most High, and not in this lifetime but in the eternal life to come. The intervention of God cannot take place without faith in the work of God. God has indeed worked out our salvation. One man sent by God, through the sacrifice of his life, took death away from the spiritual life, just as one man through his disobedience brought death into that life. Where God's work of salvation is not accepted it is either not known or understood or believed by many in this world. Man's ignorance of the Lord may be remedied, but his rejection of the Lord may not be. Man's wisdom is in conflict with God's wisdom. A man in his earthly wisdom denounces God's wisdom as foolish. Rationality is at war with faith. God is love. God is life. A man who rejects God rejects love and life. God's love is not Man's love, and God's life is not Man's life. God loves even those who do not love Him, and God's life cannot taste death. A man who rejects God may live and love, but he will inherit neither the life nor the love of God. The rejection of God is the rejection of all that He stands for. Without Him there cannot be a victory over the law of sin, which binds all of humanity. The law of sin cannot be revoked without the intervention of the Lord God. It is the Lord who placed Man under this law, and it is the Lord who can release Man from the clutches of this law. God is light. Where there is no light there is darkness. Let the people of God return to their God. Let them walk away from the darkness and into the light. May they taste the love of God, and inherit the life of God. Man and woman of God, do you want your pain to end? Do you want to taste the everlasting life? Do you desire peace and joy? Then walk away from hatred and the death that lies within. Judge not and condemn not, for there is within each of us a lot that deserves to be judged and condemned. Learn to forgive, and then learn to love, so that you too may receive forgiveness and love. The peace of the Lord is the forgiving heart, and the joy of the Lord is the love that keeps no record of wrong. Life and Death - Samuel Godfrey George There is a spiritual life, and there is a spiritual death, just as there is a physical life and a physical death. Physical life may end in physical death, but spiritual life and spiritual death are endless. Whether one lives or dies spiritually has already been decided. This is Samuel Godfrey George on life and death: When are the living dead? When the living fail to acknowledge the source of life they are dead. Without this acknowledgement there can be no worship of the One who is the only one fit to worship. And in the absence of that worship, there can be no spiritual growth. Without spiritual growth a human being cannot be complete. The spirit that is not allowed to grow will decay in the body in which it resides. That body may show signs of physical life, yet it is spiritually dead. The living body is destined for physical death, but the decaying spirit will outlive the body to live an eternal life of spiritual death. The spiritually dead cannot be victors over life, which is under the law of sin. They cannot know the Truth, which liberates Man from all forms of bondage. The Truth is the realization that nothing that is created is worthy of worship or devotion, and that the only One who is worthy is the Creator. Neither this realization nor the worship of the Creator is self-achieved. The union of the human spirit and the Divine Spirit achieves these. Such union cannot be forced. It is predestined. Those who belong to the Creator are predestined to belong to Him. God is the Creator. Man is the created. Man is also a creator, as he is made in the image of God, who is the Supreme Creator. The image of God that Man bears is of a spiritual nature. Like God, Man has the knowledge of good and evil. Yet unlike God, he does not have the power to choose good over evil, as he is under the law of sin, as ordained by God. Man came under the law of sin as a result of his disobedience to God. His disobedience to God was also an act of obedience to the enemy of God, the Devil. The disobedience to God separated Man from God. And Man without God came under the rule of the Devil. The rule of the Devil over Man's soul can be undone only by the intervention of God. This intervention can only take place when Man recognizes God and His Truth. And this will not come to pass by human might and understanding. There is Divine wisdom, and then there is human wisdom. The two are in conflict, as God and Man are in conflict. Man, who is made in the image of God is unlike God. God chooses good, and Man chooses evil. How then can God's wisdom not conflict with that of Man? The wisdom of God is for the benefit of those who have been predestined to belong to God. Even those who have been predestined to belong to God can resist God. Resistance to God is in the very nature of Man. Those who resist God resist life. Let not people of God continue in their error. Though they walk in the path of eternal death, they will not die, for God will not be prevented from having those who belong to Him. The people of God will come to their senses, and turn away from the clutches of death. They will return to their God.
