Like him or dislike him for his frostiness and the (hopefully) now-tired issues with the mortgages, he functioned extremely well in Northern Ireland and Europe and made a good minister overall, in my humbled yet enthusiastic opinion. I may have been far too young to appreciate what he did for Northern Ireland, but in retrospect I thnk he did a lot more than people acknowledge.
