J 22 (Röd Kalle) at the F 10 wing - October 2002 A WWII era plane built by FFVS. The design would consist of a frame of steel tubing, strengthened by a skin of birch plywood panels. The only engine available was the STW C-3 "Swedish Twin Wasp". This was a Swedish copy, built without license, of the Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp of 1065 hp. C-130 Hercules flying low! A pilot C-130 Hercules decided to show off and few 5 meter/16 feet above ground level not far from a few paratrooper heads. The pilot is suspended from flying and facing a dishonorable discharge from the Swedish Airforce. This was filmed by one of the Paratrooper during a drill and send the tape in to the Swedish News. The last jets leaving the F10 wing in December 2002 In 2000 the Swedish government made the difficulty decisions who will suffer after the BRAC report. Due to heavy cutbacks, they decided to close the F10 wing before the 1 January 2003. A few days before Christmas Eve in 2002, the last two Saab SK 60 trainers and the last JAS 39 Gripen take off and leave the F10 wing for the very last time, flying off to the F17 wing on the east coast. The Last Swedish Saab J35J Draken - October 2002 The last Swedish Saab J35J Draken that still in active service. Built in February 1969 designated model "F". This was the last Draken to be converted to model "J" by Saabs service-life extension program. The plane was delivered in August 1991. Saab J29 Tunnan (Gul Rudolf) Leaving the F10 Wing This is the only flying Saab J29 Tunnan in the world. Nickednamed (Gul Rudolf), the plane itself went thur a total strip down and rebuilt between 1992 to 1995 after being mothballed in a airforce museum since 1974. Register as an experimental class plane. Today it's duty is to fly in airshows and keep for historical purposes by the Swedish Airforce. On a cold December day in 2002, it left its old home, the F10 wing in Ängelholm. Since airbase will be totally disbanded in January 2003. It moved to a new home, the former F14 wing in Halmstad.
