BVW 5: Death Becomes Fur Our final BVW project was a collaborative effort between the whole class. DEATH BECOMES FUR started out as a two-sided game, but eventually evolved into a stage show of sorts due to a lot of the technical issues we ran into with the project. Aside from my usual roles of sound designer and texture artist, I also had the pleasure of voicing the lead character in this project, Winston the dog. BVW 4: Bozergeists This was my 4th Building Virtual Worlds project, and was perhaps one of the most challenging for me. With this project, we had to create a game where 3 people had to work together as a team to achieve a goal, with different user interfaces, and we also had to tell a compelling story at the same time. Our group eventually decided to do a DDR-style game, where players would control a group of gremlins in a quest to defeat the Nazis during WWII. Guests would either use a wrench to smash things, gremlin hands to scratch stuff, or a dance pad to stomp things in order to destroy various Nazi vehicles. I decided to step up and take the producer role this round, which was a stressful, but ultimately rewarding experience. I also wrote the script for the game, as well as created all the cinematics. BVW 3: ETSea This was my 3rd "Building Virtual Worlds" project, where our assignment was to create an interactive museum for children where they were lead by a guide that couldn't speak and couldn't have any arms. We opted to create an underwater world, where our guests were lead to different exotic creatures by a cute angler fish. BVW 2: The Graveyard My 2nd "Building Virtual Worlds" project with ETC Adelaide, and still my favorite. With this project, with created a virtual graveyard, where we had to use indirect control to get the player to go where we wanted them to. This was a pet project idea of mine, with an inventive payoff that I'm particularly proud of. I was texture artist and sound designer on this one. Hope ya dig it. BVW 1: The Magic Pudding This was my first "Building Virtual Worlds" project here at ETC Adelaide. It was a game adaptation of Norman Lindsey's THE MAGIC PUDDING, where two players took control of either a koala or wombat character, and tried to capture a magic pudding for their eating pleasure. I was responsible for texture art, sound design, and composing the musical score on this one. A bit of a stressful project, but an interesting learning experience.
