If the music sounds familiar, it's because it has been used in "Raging Bull" and "The Godfather Part III". Tags: Intermezzo Cavalleria Rusticana Pietro Mascagni |

Rachmaninoff in California Pianist/composer/conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff left Russia in 1917 and never returned. He settled in the U. S. in 1918 and died in Southern California in 1943. The soundtrack is the opening sequence of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3. Affectionately called "Rach 3" by pianists, it is famously difficult to play, which is the reason why some pianists participating in piano competitions purposely choose it as their show piece to impress the judges. Here is the link to a longer version of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #3 as performed by "Piano God" Vladimir Horowitz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s_Oo7HcQKw Tags: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto |
