The Oregon Trailer After our disappointing loss in the Nintendo Short Cuts Competition, Team Awesome decided to focus it's attention on how to create a video that would win us truckloads of trophies and statues. Taking our cue from the Academy, we considered doing a film about the mentally disabled, a famous musician that had recently died, or anything starring a prostitute with a heart of gold. Then, we saw There Will Be Blood while playing The Oregon Trail and a revelation hit us...we're never gonna win any awards. Also, the pairing of these two things would be like PB & J -- perfect. Team Awesome is proud to announce the completion of their newest video, The Oregon Trailer. Part parody of the Academy Award winning film, There Will Be Blood, part parody of the Apple IIe classic, The Oregon Trail, the trailer is the next in a series of video game trailers that has launched Team Awesome from obscurity...into slightly less obscurity. Contra Trailer We at Team Awesome have a soft spot in our hearts for video games, which many of you already know. What you might not know is that we also have a soft spot in our hearts for cheesy 80's action movies. Knowing that the Contra characters are loosely based on 80's action heroes, Maddog and Scorpion began to come to life in our minds. We wanted to not only pay tribute to the classic game of Contra, but also to movies like Predator, Aliens, and Rambo: First Blood. And so, the Contra trailer was born and we began to have images of spread guns, extraterrestrial invaders, and unbreakable yet expendable soldiers. Punch-Out!! Trailer Outtakes Thank you to all of the response for our Punch-Out!! Trailer. It has been great reading the comments and knowing that people enjoyed our work. We had many requests asking for additional scenes and outtakes. This blooper/gag reel shows some of the difficulties in filming, the scenes we had trouble cutting (but had to), and the great time we had making this. Below are answers to some of the more common questions regarding the Punch-Out!! Trailer. Thanks again and enjoy, Team Awesome FAQ: 1. We are not professionals. Some of the people involved in the video are/have been employed in the film industry, but we are not a professional production company (as you'll see in the outtakes). 2. We did not win the contest, as many of you had hoped. Somebody even threatened the welfare of kittens, unless it did. It was a great experience anyway, and we are ecstatic that the response outside of the contest has been so positive. Please don't hurt the kittens. 3. We did submit our entry correctly and on time. It was seen by the judges, but just wasn't their cup of tea, we guess. 4. The film was made entirely for the 2007 Nintendo Short Cuts Contest. We started writing the day the contest was announced (May 15th) and finished a final cut the day before it ended (June 5th). 5. We didn't have a ton of money to shoot the film, or Hollywood connections to help. The team loved the idea so much that spending the (little) money we did and putting in a lot of all-nighters seemed like a good move.
